Stillen SC preparations
Hey, All...Questions:
1. I am in the process of preparing my 370Z for Stillen SC. I have had the JWT clutch and HD CSC installed, as well as a Stillen oil cooler. (Among other unrelated mods, UPREV, SPC Camber, coilovers, sways) I will be looking to get a Radiator and condenser also. Any particular brand recommended, and why? 2. Should my water pump or Thermostat be changed/upgraded? 3. Will my Fast Intentions CBE and HFC's (Non resonated) be adequate, or cause any problems? 4. Any other recommendations? Thanks.... |

If you want to swap out thermostats, a 2008 G37 has one that's 10 degrees colder. I've got a csf radiator/condensor for sale and I'm local to you. And I don't apologize for shamelessly whoring out my FS ad. In all seriousness, it's the only real option. CSF is good. GTM has a better one in theory, but good luck getting them to send you a product. Mishimoto is Chinese garbage made by bestiality enthusiasts.
Make sure your oil cooler is 34 rows. I assume you're putting in a boost gauge and wideband and you just didn't mention it. What size injectors and fuel pump? Many people run new wiring to the fuel pump to prevent voltage drop. It's not a bad idea. Who's tuning it? The canned tune Stillen sends you is horrible.

I just had the Stillen SC installed and only used what Stillen provided, the only addition to my kit was that I added a Stillen oil cooler and a 9PSI pulley. I already had Fast Intentions resonated HFC's with Meisterschaft full catback exhaust. She is running incredible!
Your exhaust setup will be just fine. I am on the stock clutch/flywheel and so far feels great but I won't try to launch the car with it lol. Clutch/Flywheel is next! |

Stillen SC
I was considering the Mishimoto thermostat for the VQ. The injectors and fuel pump will be thru my shop in Houston. I imagine the Injectors may be 600-1000cc?...hopefully the latter...They also did my UPREV tune. My oil cooler is 19 row. Gauges will come once SC is being installed

If they're the stock injectors from the kit you may be running out of fuel system headroom unless you upgrade. The oil cooler is too small for a boosted car in TX summers, especially with a Nismo. Put a fan on it at the very least. Check out a bigger heat exchanger from Frozenboost as well. The Stillen kit often has heat issues and we live someplace hot. Go overboard on cooling and heat management.

I like the Stillen set up, and may do the pulley also, along with the upgraded connections for the SC. I don't want crappy looking piping showing. probably get the covers too. My cooler is Stillen 19 row.....is that adequate?
How much gain you get from the SC? Torque/HP? At what psi? 7-10? You will need a clutch....if you plan on stretching her legs....CSC is a must too, as the Nismo stock one fails a lot. Issues bleeding the new one, so be careful, and a new Master is recommended too. The noise the HD clutch makes wasn't expected. (Throw-out bearing), but I'm used to it now, as it is only heard outside the car, or with windows down. Quote:

If you're going to stick with an oil cooler that's really sized for a NA car, at the very least put on an oil pan spacer.

I feel like we post this over and over....DON'T buy Mishimoto crap. MY tuner has a pile of their failed products over in a corner.
I have a complete monitoring system of gauges. I swapped to the 2008 G37 thermostat Chuck refered to and it works great. It was over 90's in the shop last week during my tune and we never saw coolant temperatures over 200defF. I highly recommend the radiator upgrade. I'm running the CSF and it works great. Your oil cooler is too small for Houston weather. I'm running a 30 row oil cooler and have an additional grill since I own a G. Driving around this weekend with temperatures in the high 80's/low 90's it's nothing for you to have 220deg oil temps while boosting. Now you're might be lower since I believe the Stillen SC is a self contained oiling system but it'll still get pretty high. Chuck hit is on the head...Go overboard with heat management! |

I made 422HP/318 TQ on a Mustang dyno at 9PSI. My oem CSC failed after 3K miles but has been fine since then and i'm currently at 15K but I will be swapping the OEM clutch/flywheel/CSC asap, just will wait until the OEM starts showing signs of it going out.
The new MAF connections were also installed and made things very easy vs previous kits which required the wires to be spliced. Simply plug and play! |

Cooler
Thanks...What size Stillen cooler do you have installed?
Oil pan spacer just adds oil volume, or does it aid in cooling also. (I assume it would with more volume) |

It just adds volume, but adding another quart of oil will keep the temps down. Make sure your tuner lowers the turn-on temps for the fans and run closer to a 75water/25coolant mix over the 50/50.

Mishi
I got the Mishi part....on the first message
I AM doing the radiator I AM doing the condenser I WILL be looking for another Thermostat Injectors will be at the top end of the spectrum. Checking Frozenboost, or other coolers as we speak. These forums are designed to get input from multiple sources, especially to AVOID issues like with Mishi...and the cooling...thanks for that, and if it seems redundant..welll...I like to hear different peoples opinions and experiences/input... I am sure somewhere in the future, I too, will pass on this info from my experiences... Quote:
