I also just ordered a bunch of the extruded elbows used to make these new manifolds.

Hypothetically is I switched to the new turbo cover and piping would I require a re tune? Or will the s-cover not fit? I assume the s-cover will flow more air, would this screw up my tune? I am fine with my setup, but I like the idea of reducing the amount of oil lines just to simplify things.

I just did some light reading and most say the s-cover helps more in higher boost situations, which I do not consider 10 psi high boost. In my mind I would switch to new IC piping and to the thermostatic plate, eliminating filter relocation and 2 oil lines. If the piping length is about the same and stick with an e-cover I cant imagine a re-tune would be needed, this is the route I think I would go.

The only reasons I would consider it would be to run a bigger air filter and get down to only four oil lines (I currently have 6 oil lines instead of 5 like the standard kit because of the GReddy thermostat).
My tuner is like 10 miles from my house and a quick retune would probably only cost me an hr of dyno time. When it's that little I'm more than willing to get it retuned. |

Im think the way Sasha worded things the s cover will not fit with the turbo location with the v1 manifold, at that point I think it will get too expensive to justify, I think I would stick with the e-cover and the new piping.

Thats correct. I am running what you could call the V1.5 kit right now. And right out of the gate I am building 0.5PSI more boost with no changes to my boost controller. So the kit is able to push that air more effectively than it has done in the past.

You need a whole new turbo manifold to be able to fit the new turbo housing. I am running the original turbo, its just clocked different and the elbow that was welded to the outlet of it is now removed.

Nice work sasha! I think I will be upgrading my v1 kit to v2 as well once available. Still not happy with the fitment of the 45 elbow on the passenger side, and this would completely eliminate my worries about it
