Oh wow, so you got the single turbo kit installed and tuned and noticed the knocking when you got it back, interesting.

Yes the VSR in house kit and install. Noticed it right when I got back after taking a buddy on a test drive we did a little 4th gear pull don't even think I went up to redline got off the interstate and started hearing the tapping pinging noise. Kinda strange but I guess maybe a bad batch of gas? We will see what the damage is but Bobby seems certain it's in the bottom end and not a head/VVEL related issue. Think I got the car back in April if I remember right.

Yeah I'm doing a lot of wondering but at the end of the day it doesn't get me anywhere.. I think I made mistake going down this road but I can only choose to move forward or dwell at this point. I'm pretty sure I didn't put anything other then 93 in and like you said I would think the tune would be good enough to have some fails safes to some extent. I don't even beat on the car. Hell I was afraid of it at first until I got used to it. It's supposed to have a "conservative" tune as far as I'm aware. Maybe I just got the dreaded made on a Friday engine.. But I'm with you guys though, thought it would have more longevity. Granted it hasn't popped but something obviously failed.

I know the tune is very important but some times you just get a weak motor
why one motor can run at 500+ stock all day and another motor drops off at 450 is anyones guest my motor died doing a dyno session with a stillen kit and yes it was a money pit to get fixed now the tune i got from vsr motorsports ran flawless even thought we did have some other small problems. and the turbo kit has been great

Yeah who knows, with my luck I wouldn't be surprised if my motor was a weakling. But we won't know much besides speculation until it's torn down. My pistons were ordered yesterday. The 6 week wait is on for those to be ready. I think they have a good kit.. Stuff can and does happen. You just hope not to be that guy and that the work was done right. Guess this is gonna be one of those hard learned lessons.

Really? I would like to know myself. Far as I know none in the Nissan World. Update We hear a light tap coming from the rear of the Engine. At first we thought it could be the Dual mass flywheel. We did a power balance test by shutting down each cylinder and no changes to the noise. At low rpm's not very noticeable At 2500 RPM's noticeable at 3500 and up not so much Under load only at low RPM not very noticeable. maybe cause there is the typical engine noise and turbo doing its thing muffling out the tick. To us it sounds like wrist pin The engine pulls like a train. Now the Turbo is being sent back for warranty work. We had a batch of precision turbo's that have a smoke issue on startup. Thanks |

Valpozguy for one (whose car actually caught on fire when a piston came out the side of the block), I remember seeing at least two others on here and 1 guy off forum so you now you know you are up to at least 4. I'm not going to go into cars that have died on your dyno that don't have your kit as you never know with those.
Edit: although if you are using knock voltage to tune it all makes sense.

This is me right now Bobby, are you stoned? I know of peoples' engines that have blown with your turbo kit too... Oh, and if you're going to be a non-paying vendor please or take your contact info off.

Are these guys not calling VSR and telling them they just blew up? I know about 3 off hand. I find this hard to believe he don't know a single VQ that's blown from his kit.
