Just got My Z today Time for some FI fun
So I just bought my brand new 2014 Z with Sport Package today. Its an A7.
What mods should I do to the engine, and Tranny before I go FI. I'm thinking I wanna go Twin Turbo or if I can find a good STS I'll go with it. Also need help with what traction mods to go with other then tires. |
My Budget
$8000 for Turbo Or SC $1200 for the Exhaust $5000 for supporting mods $2500 for labor |
Auto or Manual?
$2500 for labor is probably on the low side for a TT install As far as I'm concerned there are really only three options: TT - Fast Intentions (above your $8k budget) ST - Boosted Performance (Manual only) SC - Stillen $5,000 in supporting mods is probably only going to get you the FI supporting mods (i.e. clutch/radiator/gauges/heat management/etc.). If you want suspension and other mods that will be more. |
I think most guys ditched STS kit that had it. The 7AT just needs line pressures increased to help hold 5th,6th, and 7th together. I say help because I still wouldn't be heavy footed out of fourth gear when boosted. The 5 and up gears just can't take it.
There are a few upgrades that could help a little but not worth it IMO. I ended up getting a M6 boosted instead of boosting my AT becuase to do it right for me wasn't cost effective. Browse around and search a little there is a lot of information you need to read before going in head first. |
Its an Automatic.
If it goes over budget by 1K I'm not going to be too mad. Just can't way over budget because I still have to buy my girlfriend our 2 year anniversary gift next month. |
Don't forget to have about 5 grand back-up cash for when something breaks.

My emergency fund if my car breaks is a 1970 Dodge Daytona to sell.
|
I don't think he is going to be able to afford the FI do to the price. Awesome kit though from I hear..

The 7AT is only rated for 300 torque and the only upgraded one I've seen is GTM and it's $6K+ so cross that line at your own risk. I hope someone else makes one if mine ever goes.

Thanks, Tony |
There's really not a lot to say on the motor side that hasn't been posted here already. If I only had one leg or some other medical condition that limited me to an automatic transmission, I'd give F.I. a call and ask what they've done as far as beefing up the bitchbox. They're finishing up a boosted 7at if I remember correctly.
lets see who takes the bait |
whats the current wait time for the fi tt i'll probably pull a couple extra shifts per week and get the money

As soon as I get back, we are preparing, boxing and shipping 4 kits. In addition, finishing up a few installs. Yours would fall right in the mix with all of that. Thanks, Tony |
I haven't done my research on Kits because I was going to go with a GTM TT kit but then I heard about the huge wait etc... turned me off from it really quick. But I knew I was going to need 12K to 18K for a TT or SC set up so i've been saving up for it for the past 2 years.

Well u got money, 2 out of 1ain't so bad haha

1) TT kit (6MT) Great single disk clutch/flywheel in SpecialtyZ. Currently in talks to create a Twin Disc for big boy power. 2). Design a fuel system upgrade to support the boost/power. Multiple fuel systems for different levels will be in full production shortly and available. 3). A 7AT upgrade that can put to the ground with what we are throwing at it. We have enlisted the best in the business that we know and trust. Clutch packs/billet Flex Plate/Possibly Converter & Valve Body on the way. All in all, we realized that we need to offer the total package of supporting mods to go along with our kit. Otherwise, what is the use of having a kit that nothing else around it can handle! If you decide to go the single turbo route, you are in good hands with Sasha and Boosted Performance. He loves what he does, has integrity, and builds a great product! As for TT, you already know my recommendation, let our product, reviews and the members do the talking for us! Thanks, Tony |
meh guess i'm working overtime for the next month to get this TT kit.

Given how little room we have between the steering knuckle and exhaust housing, also the location of the turbo on the opposite side, it does not look promising that our kit would fit. That said, I cannot confirm this without having a RHD car in the shop to fit. I know it also does not make sense cost wise for you to send your car to us. I cannot think of a solution for this problem. Unless a RHD 370Z mysteriously turns up in the US! |
How long do I have to pay if I sent you that $2500 today? And can I paypal it to you guys or Wire Transfer?

Keep in mind, we ran way over our original projected self imposed ship dates. That is all behind us now and we currently have more inventory than orders. We accept just about everything aside of Amex. If you are ready, please call Dan A. at the number below. He did design and engineer the kit after all. He can help you get squared away. I cannot, I am on the other side of the world right now! |
