Just got My Z today Time for some FI fun

So I just bought my brand new 2014 Z with Sport Package today. Its an A7.
What mods should I do to the engine, and Tranny before I go FI. I'm thinking I wanna go Twin Turbo or if I can find a good STS I'll go with it. Also need help with what traction mods to go with other then tires.

Ninjahero 04-03-2014 03:38 PM

My Budget
$8000 for Turbo Or SC
$1200 for the Exhaust
$5000 for supporting mods
$2500 for labor

jwick 04-03-2014 03:41 PM

Auto or Manual?

$2500 for labor is probably on the low side for a TT install

As far as I'm concerned there are really only three options:

TT - Fast Intentions (above your $8k budget)
ST - Boosted Performance (Manual only)
SC - Stillen

$5,000 in supporting mods is probably only going to get you the FI supporting mods (i.e. clutch/radiator/gauges/heat management/etc.). If you want suspension and other mods that will be more.

Mr&Mrs 04-03-2014 03:48 PM

I think most guys ditched STS kit that had it. The 7AT just needs line pressures increased to help hold 5th,6th, and 7th together. I say help because I still wouldn't be heavy footed out of fourth gear when boosted. The 5 and up gears just can't take it.

There are a few upgrades that could help a little but not worth it IMO. I ended up getting a M6 boosted instead of boosting my AT becuase to do it right for me wasn't cost effective. Browse around and search a little there is a lot of information you need to read before going in head first.

Ninjahero 04-03-2014 03:50 PM

Its an Automatic.
If it goes over budget by 1K I'm not going to be too mad. Just can't way over budget because I still have to buy my girlfriend our 2 year anniversary gift next month.

falconfixer 04-03-2014 03:52 PM

Don't forget to have about 5 grand back-up cash for when something breaks.

Call Tony at Fast Intentions and give him your total budget and see if he can make it work. It's by far the best TT kit for the platform.

I went with Boosted Performance but you have an AT so that one is out.

fuct 04-03-2014 04:03 PM

im surprised you guys are being so nice and helpful!

Ninjahero 04-03-2014 04:04 PM

My emergency fund if my car breaks is a 1970 Dodge Daytona to sell.

COSMO 04-03-2014 04:06 PM

I don't think he is going to be able to afford the FI do to the price. Awesome kit though from I hear..

This is the first dude that has actually come in with a realstic budget. Not one of the ones that thinks I'll spend $7k on my kit and that's it.

The 7AT is only rated for 300 torque and the only upgraded one I've seen is GTM and it's $6K+ so cross that line at your own risk. I hope someone else makes one if mine ever goes.

We are working on a "solid/sound/reliable" upgrade for the 7AT. How else do you think we are going to go deep in to the 10's!

Thanks, Tony

Chuck33079 04-03-2014 04:52 PM

There's really not a lot to say on the motor side that hasn't been posted here already. If I only had one leg or some other medical condition that limited me to an automatic transmission, I'd give F.I. a call and ask what they've done as far as beefing up the bitchbox. They're finishing up a boosted 7at if I remember correctly.

lets see who takes the bait

Ninjahero 04-03-2014 04:54 PM

whats the current wait time for the fi tt i'll probably pull a couple extra shifts per week and get the money

Positive support is appreciated! As soon as I get back on the 14th, I am starting what we will call, "The Dream Sheet!" A PDF form that each customer inquiring can fill out with all of there goals and expectations. All on one form, all in one place. Keeps things nice and neat!

Thanks, Tony

Credit where credit is due. I would have considered your kit for my needs but I'm a DIY type of guy. Sasha's kit was right up my alley! I personally believe that no customer can go wrong with either FI or BP products.

Not as long as our exhaust! I am out until the 14th, but please feel free to give Dan A. (We have three Dans) a call and discuss the logistics.

As soon as I get back, we are preparing, boxing and shipping 4 kits. In addition, finishing up a few installs. Yours would fall right in the mix with all of that.

Thanks, Tony

Ninjahero 04-03-2014 05:03 PM

I haven't done my research on Kits because I was going to go with a GTM TT kit but then I heard about the huge wait etc... turned me off from it really quick. But I knew I was going to need 12K to 18K for a TT or SC set up so i've been saving up for it for the past 2 years.

We looked at it like this...

1) TT kit (6MT)
Great single disk clutch/flywheel in SpecialtyZ. Currently in talks to create a Twin Disc for big boy power.

2). Design a fuel system upgrade to support the boost/power.
Multiple fuel systems for different levels will be in full production shortly and available.

3). A 7AT upgrade that can put to the ground with what we are throwing at it.
We have enlisted the best in the business that we know and trust. Clutch packs/billet Flex Plate/Possibly Converter & Valve Body on the way.

All in all, we realized that we need to offer the total package of supporting mods to go along with our kit. Otherwise, what is the use of having a kit that nothing else around it can handle!

"Do it once, do it right!"

I like the way you think! I love your kit but knew a 7AT couldn't take it, glad to see your fixing that!

You are thinking correctly! If you Supercharge go with Stillen. I know they have had there bumps in the past with the kit (mostly in the beginning) but the kit has potential...especially with the right exhaust mods around it.

If you decide to go the single turbo route, you are in good hands with Sasha and Boosted Performance. He loves what he does, has integrity, and builds a great product!

As for TT, you already know my recommendation, let our product, reviews and the members do the talking for us!

Thanks, Tony

meh guess i'm working overtime for the next month to get this TT kit.

The timeline sounds great. I feel once you truly decide on what you want, saving up for it is part of the journey. As consumers, we are tested along the way to settle for things that may be less expensive or easier to obtain, but for those who do ride it out, stay diligent and keep the self control (not easy) will ultimately be rewarded with what they worked so hard for!

It is a great feeling...

Ninjahero 04-03-2014 05:40 PM

Just expect a call from me in a month telling you guys to just take my money and don't remind me how much I'm paying.

Hey Tony. Can you forward 100 of those sheets to me so that I can put "figure out how to make it fit on a RHD car" on all of them! :p

I like what I am hearing. FYI, all we need to lock your order in is $2,500 USD minimum! That is our "layaway plan."

No pressure at all, just give us a call when you are ready.

Thanks, Tony

I hear you loud and clear! I have no doubt in my mind that if our kit fit a RHD car, you would be the first to sign up.

Given how little room we have between the steering knuckle and exhaust housing, also the location of the turbo on the opposite side, it does not look promising that our kit would fit. That said, I cannot confirm this without having a RHD car in the shop to fit.

I know it also does not make sense cost wise for you to send your car to us. I cannot think of a solution for this problem. Unless a RHD 370Z mysteriously turns up in the US!

Ninjahero 04-03-2014 05:54 PM

How long do I have to pay if I sent you that $2500 today? And can I paypal it to you guys or Wire Transfer?

We like to keep it under 6 months for the layaway plan. We are flexible, so if you need a little more time, that's fine.

Keep in mind, we ran way over our original projected self imposed ship dates. That is all behind us now and we currently have more inventory than orders.

We accept just about everything aside of Amex. If you are ready, please call Dan A. at the number below. He did design and engineer the kit after all. He can help you get squared away. I cannot, I am on the other side of the world right now!

Hahahahaha, I am relaxed, believe me! I usually only get online first thing in the morning or late at night, like now.

Appreciate all the encouragement guys, really do! However when you are in the position we are, there is no turning it completely off! I am have come to accept it over the years and it is part of who we are.

I could consider just buying the passenger side (LHD) exhaust manifold off of you and then test fitting it myself. I know plenty of guys with disco potatoes just lying around so I wouldn't even need that. It depends on what is actually in the way of the steering knuckle and what parts I would need to test fit.

Lance from Next Level Performance is telling everyone on myg37.com that you are away "on business". You should probably just roll with that :p
