+1 on where is the oil cooling... I can see that you moved the oil filter, but don't see any lines coming from that block to a cooler... the oil overheat issue can only get worse with more power, so I'm sure (hoping) you have this addressed

Don't sweat these guys who think this is something that can be done overnight. People with their head on their shoulders know something like this is a long process, an we would rather have a quality part than get it fast.

Actually, I think the Stillen kit has very straight-forward piping. However, like you said, they don't use the stock engine cover with their new intake manifold, which doesn't make the engine bay look as subtle or as clean. I think the Stillen guys are trying to design their own engine cover to clean things up a bit.

do you really think it is that ugly ? I think both kits have their merits... the stillen intake is at least as attractive as the plastic engine cover that nissan slaps on OEM... and stillen can easily design something to complement the intake and cover the other parts of the engine for those that care... and the GTM kit is stealth, which some folks will like
so back to the very serious issue of oil cooling... where is it, please ? i've instructed liquidz's avatar to keep doing push ups until we get a satisfactory answer! lol |

Honestly yes i think the stillen piping looks like something i would see on homemade turbo .com. While i've not seen it in person, the Y portion looks like it will flow horribly. (could just be the glimpse we get in the video, i'm waiting to see it in person). If you want to continue to compare the two kits my next worry about the stillen kit would be the SC sitting so far away from engine, which seems similar to the previous vortech kits. That usually causes a lot of deflection in the bracket contributing to the belt slippage that everyone complains about. Hopefully they learned a lesson and added a way to stiffen that thing up a bit. Final concern with the stillen kit would be MAF location. i'm waiting to see where they actually put them, but i'm guessing they are going to have to share that main charge pipe. Not sure how the factory ECU is going to like that, or the fact that they are not reading a real intake air temp. Unless they add another IAT sensor post intercooler how will the tune know to change if the temp changes? I mean you can make the most efficient IC set up in the world, but it will change temps to some degree through the course of driving/racing etc, and the ECU should be able to see this to properly compensate. I guess i just expected something truly amazing from stillen especially after all of the talk about custom intake etc. Turned out looking a lot like an older vortech kit, which i really am not a fan of.
As far as the oil cooler, i'm sure GTM has something figured out. Last edited by fstrnldr; 01-31-2010 at 02:50 PM. |

Now of course we kept the limp in mode in mind. so if you already have bought our oil cooler previously then you will be able to utilize the core and the lines that you already have, we will be offering a supplement kit so you can do so . And the supercharger kit will be sold with and without an engine oil cooler Sam |

you seem pretty knowledgeable about all this... mind if i ask what your involvement is in the industry? are you just an owner/driver, or do you have some skin in the game? i'm curious... also, have you posted those concerns over on the stillen thread? i'd like to see how they respond
