I always though on stock motors the safe timing would be right at 16 degrees..

timing depends on boost of course but from most ive seen stock blocks around ~10-12psi no one seems to run more than ~14 degrees around peak torque ramping up to ~18 degrees at redline on 93. That could still be conservative though, I don't know how they determined that was "safe" (knock ears is the only way while tuning a car really)

I remember speaking with john at z1 about that when I was there having my car tuned and he mentioned staying right around 16 degrees of course many other factors are considered..

Out of curiosity, anyone around that's local to GTM ? I do wonder how they're still in business and if there are any more in house builds going on at their shop. Sad to see how they've fallen since the 350 days ....

but bullsh*t has a way of catching up to you.

To try and keep torque down on my single we are running 11degs when the turbo spools. I don't recall off the top of my head where we stopped advancing up top. I'll have to run a few logs to see.

GTM is still around, I actually called and talked to Sam yesterday regarding my build. They have had my car for roughly 3 weeks now. It should be completed fairly soon from the sound of it.

I'm expecting a call later today on another update on my cylinder head they are fixing.
