Default Single Turbo Project

Hi everyone

I have 2009 370z 6speed and I decided to build a single turbo but I need your help guys.
First I want it to be single turbo daily drive car, also I live in the middle east and its too hot in summer

I'm planning to use these parts:

1/ Garrett gtx3582r (1.06 A/R)
2/ GTM intercooler
3/ AEROMOTIVE 340LPH fuel pump
4/ ID injector 1000cc
5/ GTM fuel rail
6/ GTM high capacity oil pan
7/ SETRAB 25row oil cooler
8/ 44mm Tial westgate ( I don't know how much boost should I go)
9/ NST pulleys
10/ Water/Meth injector
11/ ARK Grip V2
12/ Spec clutch stage 3
13/ Spark plugs ( I don't know any thing about them)

Suspention:
1/ Ksport current kontrol pro coilover system
2/ AMS adjustable camber kit
3/ WHITELINE front and rear adjustable sway bar set
4/ GTSPEC 2 point rear lower brace
5/ GTSPEC 6 points ladder brace

I already got the turbo, westgate, oil pan, the pulleys and the exhaust.
I need your advice.

Thanks.

To give some direction, check out the BP turbo kit and the S&R turbo kit, both single turbos and do well for the 370z.

BP Kit: Boosted Performance single turbo build

S&R Kit: S&R Performance Single Turbo Kit!!

Is that enough turbo for a 3.7 that revs to 7500rpm?

That's the same size turbo that's in the BP kit. Maybe 5% smaller.

If that's the case he should be fine. I've just seen single GT35s used more often on much smaller motors.

Ummm unless I'm wrong...

The GTX3582R has a Turbine wheel diameter of 35mm and a Compressor wheel diameter of 82mm.

BPs Precision 6266 has a turbine wheel diameter of 62mm and Compressor wheel diameter of 66mm.

I couldnt find any hard numbers on BPs numbers and if that is exactly what they mean with the precision turbo but I did find this for the garretts.

Garrett Turbo GT Series Model Designations | Garrett By Honeywell

So if im correct the turbine wheel is almost half the size of BPs and the compressor is 80% of it.

This compares the 6262 but they are very similar.

Here are the specs for the GTX35R:
Garrett GTX35R wheel sizes Trims Stats

http://www.enginebasics.com/Advanced...5R%20stats.png

Here are the specs for the PTE6262

Compressor-

BILLET Wheel Inducer: 62mm

Wheel Exducer: 82mm

Turbine Wheel -

Wheel Inducer: 72mm

Wheel Exducer: 62mm

You will notice that they are identical on the compressor side of things, but where they are different is on the exhaust side of things. The PTE6262 has a 72mm inducer size turbine while the turbine inducer size on the GTX3582R is 68mm. It is no surprise then the 6262 makes more peak power up top, while most dyno’s have shown the GTX35582R to have more midrange power.

This turbine is too small. I would look at the Precisions T4 frame turbos to start with, vs the T3 that the GTX35 comes with. The 62mm T4 with a .81/.96 a/r housing is what you should use provided it is a tangential setup (non twin scroll).

There was a stroked 3.8L VQ35DE a while ago that used this exact turbo on a Momentum kit. Car made 524ft/tq, and only about 490whp.

TQ higher than HP = turbine too small/doesn't flow enough (in this case). IF the GT35 turbo was available with a larger T4 frame turbine housing, then it would compare well to the Precision 6266 because the compressor wheels are very close.

If you are doing a custom build, make sure to post some pictures, just like any other guy, I like to see new stuff.

Good luck with the build.

Listen to this guy

He has done the research

I have seen the GT35R on a G35 run out of breath at 525whp at 5200ft elev.

I second that, Sasha knows...also a guy at work is going to be upgrading his turbo to the same 6266 t4 non ts on his neon currently at 540 whp, same problem, current turbo is too small, the engine is fully built and should be stable to est. 700 whp, but he is only looking for 600, this turbo(I don't know what it is) just cannot do it.

No need for pulley kit goin FI, get a Fluidampr Harmonic Engine Damper - Sport Compact for the crank if you think it's needed. I've upgraded to a 7065 for my built motor. Just buy BP's single kit, best single setup for the money and our platform imo.

a 35r should be fine but a 42r would be a better choice, especially since its a single turbo build

Wide range of info
Thank you guys I really appreciate it.

It's my fault, I didn't mention from the beginning that I bought T4

Using GT42 will cause lake of space since I will place the turbo in top mount.
My tuner said that GTX35 is fine till 700hp.
I'm not going over 550hp since I will use it every day.

Again guys thank you, looking for your opinion on the other parts.
