I also have the 3" gtm downpipes and ordered a 3" FI exhaust but sold it due to it being Way to loud. Should have went with resonated pipes from the get go..

I guess everyone's "loud" is different but I now have the ZELE system and it is much louder to me and is only 2.5". The pitch is different though not quite as deep.

All the panels vibrate in my car when I'm not even pushing boost lol

I like it but the sound actually makes a guy reach for his Advil after driving for more than 30minutes.

This week I'll call Tony at FI to see what the next steps are to take.

The next step to take has nothing to do with Fast Intentions. Either put super traps on the wastegate dump tubes or recirculate the wastegates.

Your car's loudness has absolutely zero to do with your exhaust system while you've got open wastegates.

NOBLE|370Z 02-17-2014 10:23 AM

Is that true for when I'm not pushing boost? External wastegates are closed in this condition for the most part so all the exhaust flows through the CBE is how I'm picturing it.

I'm probably missing something with the wastegates picture. I thought they are closed until target boost...

I'd start with that and see if you need to do more once you've gotten the open dumps taken care of.

i had open wastegate downpipe on my supra. even no/low boost is super loud. Open wastegate is essentially an exhaust leak. Its going to be noisy.

NOBLE|370Z 02-17-2014 11:25 AM

I think what I need to understand is that, regardless of being near target boost or not, the wastegates are still somewhat open causing a noisy drone at sub boost conditions (highway cruising). I had it in my mind that the wastegates keep 100% closed until ~20% below target boost psi. Hopefully I'm reading everyone's comments correctly.

In the end I think I'll still need to resonate my exhaust by swapping out pieces. I'll try the recirc option firstly then go from there.

Thank you for everyone's feedback.

I got open dumps on my Bp kit, idk if anyone with that kit is running them but is assume it'd be loud when open.

COSMO 02-17-2014 01:12 PM

No open Dumps here..

Wattles 02-19-2014 07:28 AM

I have stock cats and FI 2.5" cat-back non-resonated exhaust on my TT setup. There is a noticeable drone at 2,000 - 3,000 RPM and that's with recirculating dumps. I don't ever think it sounds bad or raw exhaust like.
I can't imagine why you would have open dumps unless you chose to have the raw exhaust sound or we're only concerned with pure performance/track racing.

NOBLE|370Z 02-19-2014 08:26 PM

I don't mind the sound at WOT. It's the other 99% of the time that the drone wears on the ears. I'll deal with it because it's not my daily driver. I like it loud but only when I step on the gas hard.

Perhaps I'll order some new pipes with resonators next year...
