Your throttle position switch allows the nitrous system to spray when the throttle pedal is "floored" via either mechanical switch or voltage based.
These are seperate from the tune. Some progressive controllers like the NOS mini progressive have both rpm window and TPS switches built into it.

I would ASSUME that you would want to have a map for nitrous and a map for your everyday driving but I am not sure how others are setup.
That's IF you have a window switch.
