Why don't we just put this nasty GTM past behind us and move on with FAST INTENTION TT products ( Except for the people still have their money stuck with GTM ).

Yes, FI is more money but that would pay for the real quality and long term reliability for the product that is made in the USA rather than overseas or out of the country. We certainly do not want to have anymore cracked exhaust manifolds other manufacturing headaches, do we ? Also Dan and Tony have been providing very superior customer support up to now. To me it is worth the xtra cost by looking at the GTM nightmarish situation.

^well said.

My only regret is not waiting longer (would have been over a year tho) for FI's kit or them not making it fast enough!

Exactly! They got bashed real bad there, but my friend's had the first VQ35HR build at Forged and it took 7 shipments and several months to get all the correct parts. They told Spohn last 4th of July that he wasn't going to see it before the new year. Also, they sent a kit to another shop I work with, with everything, except the actual turbos.

That and everytime I powdercoat a set of brakes for them, it takes over a year until the next set they want coated for them to pay me for the last set. I'm still owed too, but I have just written it off.

Didn't want to say anything while they were still viable, but telling people to dispute their charges shows they are gone.

Welp, I'm tapping out. Called Sam, he said to send an email and they'll "put me on the list"... He said it will likely be 4-6 weeks. Sounds familiar...

Sounds like the ship is sinking to me..Someone who should do some public information research and see if and when they filed for Chapter bankrupcy or not. If the date wea prior to them still taking peoples money for TT kits they manufacturer you can possibly prove criminal wrongdoing.

No Bankruptcies yet.... But their Credit scores are very low, to the point if they were applying for credit from me I would not give them any!

Ok so I figure it's safe for me to share this now. I was told by several people not to badmouth GTM on the forums or I would be banned from the forums and blackballed so I did most of my bitching to Sam directly and to people via PMs. I'm running a GTM 1.5 SC kit and love it but man, getting it delivered and installed was a nightmare. Here's my story:

Quote:

I pre-paid Sam for the kit in early June/late May of last year. The kit wasn't delivered until late August and we had issues (man, did we have issues):

-Shitty communication from the jump. Sometimes days without a response from Sam or Mike. I felt like they were screening their calls.

-Very little support in configuring/setting up the kit.

-2 weeks overdue shipping the kit despite the fact that I gave them a ******* 2 month runway and paid in advance.

-When they finally did ship, they shipped me a G37 twincharger meant for someone in Canada. No apology.

-Shipped my kit even later with a warped part that had been machined poorly (saw it in person - the part didn't fit at all - no way the shop could have done it). Tried to blame the install shop for it. They also forgot half the kit which they shipped several days later delaying the build further. No apology.

-One of my powdered intakes had a ding on it. Again, GTM blamed the install shop.

-I asked for decals for my intake or a t-shirt or something. Sam never shipped them despite promising to on multiple occasions. Minor issue, but after the rest of it - i was just fed up. Mike finally did ship me two tiny decals when I shelled out another $200 for an 88mm pulley. You'd think they'd be a little friendlier considering the money people spend but whatever. Unsurprisingly, they refused to swap the 88mm pulley for the 92mm I had on the car for less than a month. ******* $9500 on a kit and you won't swap out a ******* pulley? F you.

-The part sheet/install instructions they sent the shop were a joke. It was just a xerox printout of their webpage. Considering I bought the "plug and play" kit - that's unacceptable.

-Kit fitment sucks.

-GTM is horribly overpriced

-Sam is rude as hell to paying customers. Makes zero effort to make sure his customers are happy. Once they have your money, you can go **** yourself.

-ALL of that said, the quality of the parts is good but I wouldn't do business with them again if I had known this would happen up-front.

-Their prices are freaking outrageous. I'm still mad I had to pay $200 for a pulley. I mean come on, it's an aluminum pulley for christ's sake.

I think GTM is very lucky that Stillen is their only competition and that GTM only offers the only SC on the market that isn't carb-restricted.

Honestly, now I feel guilty for being so mad at them looking at what you folks are going through now.

I was operating under the assumption that their customer service sucked but that the kits were solid. I really hated talking to those dudes. Always made me feel like I should consider myself lucky that they were nice enough to take my money. I always figured it was because I'm new to "performance cars" and ask a ton of questions. I also wanted a constant running dialogue with them during the kit construction (I didn't get it) - and once I felt like they were dodging my calls, that only made me call more.

elperuano 05-22-2014 08:29 PM

Lol. Wonder who it was that told u not to say anything. I'd bank it was a moderator seeing as how they love to clean up gtm threads.

dmhenderson 05-22-2014 08:32 PM

It wasn't anything sinister. It was people in my local car club who said people had been banned/blackballed for saying anything even remotely approaching criticism of GTM so I decided to err on the side of caution. Kinda wish I hadn't.

Edit: I'm gonna go ahead and remove that GTM decal from my window right about now. Props to Moore Automotive and Hill's Garage who suffered through the install and "clean-up" with me.

You're not the only person that had issues with GTM. Hill's Garage is great! I've been going there for about 5 years now and they really make you feel like part of the family.

Frank and Suzanne are great people. Expensive as hell but man, Frank knows these cars inside and out.
Worth every penny.

He's going to be handling my E85 upgrade/re-tune here shortly. Going to bump up to 1000cc Injector Dynamics and a beefier fuel pump. He talked me out of a fuel return system.

Sam actually called me today. I am as shocked as all of you are. It was about my car that is in their shop, not the MHI kit. Te fact that he called and spoke with me was news I figured you all would like to hear. No dodging my emails or phone calls yet.
