Thick layer of sarcasm, I don't know who the owner is or what car it is.

600 is a lot, but E85 does help tremendously with pushing the limits. I could safely push my car further with it, but I drive my car everyday and don't want to depend on E85.

He's a cool dude he posted it on the 370Z FB page. Cars still going strong. But I also believe that it will only take time until something breaks and needs to be upgraded.

It's part of what we do we gain power. We break something cause of said power. We replace said something with a stronger/upgraded version. And then we add MOAR power! LOL

Just to correct some of you guys. HP is not what limits the longevity of the engine. Its the torque. 500 HP 550HP 600HP.. who cares.. Now say 500 Torque on wheel with stock block then kiss your engine good bye.

500-530 ft lb here...not one shred of metal. My bearings are surviving and my rods are straight. 2000 and counting, lets hope some of us can redefine the limits of the VQ.

Detonation will kill your engine ages before you over-stress internals. Throwing 11+ psi from anything in a pump gas is detonation inevitably, one hot day, poor components(IAT and fuel temps too high, poor boost control etc) and a bad batch of fuel will kill a 300ft lb car just as fast as a 500ft lb.

While torque is definitely the break limit, the tune can kill any build all the same. Get a great and efficient kit, get topshelf parts, handle the fuel problems and maybe **** wont break with shitty 350ft lb tunes. Just sayin.

But that's just how I think. I enjoy my >500ft lb...not one hitch yet. The oil doesn't lie friend.

not to hate but i agree with de.50 on this, that much torque may not pop your motor but you did just drop down to a tenth or less of it's lifetime. Then again they may only use it once in a great while. I beat the chit out of my rides and fix or replace(in the case of the beaters) when they go. While the first motor suddenly lost all its oil and died, I know it was heavily worn before that happened, then the second motor was scored up for oil starve tracking, I melted the front rotors and pads under succsesive high speed braking, have gone through two manual transmissions from crunching the synchros racing, and burned up one rear end. I did all that NA If i go turbo its going to be around 400-450 whp and that is where it will stay. How much of a demand the driver places on the car has more to do with its life than any single other thing, but 550 torque is a hell of a lot of repetitive stress to ask of the factory rods that are were designed for HALF of that. It will blow after enough runs through that torque curve but it's a moot point, these guys are baller enough to blow 11k on a turbo kit they will just spend the cash when it comes time to rebuild.

It all comes with the territory of any boosted ride. It is part of the deal. This is why I cringe when some want to go forced induction on a "budget"...its a NA car at its core, plan accordingly. I think it should be in everyone's budget who goes this route to begin a built engine plan, slowly yet surely, or just throw the money to the side, nothing lasts forever, and it surely won't last longer doing this.

My plan is simple. mess around for a year at it's power levels, throw it into high boost after the year. Just see how long this engine can survive a 630/550+ beating while my built block is waiting.

So far so good tho, I have treated it like it owes me money and it has been up to task. My goal was to eliminate any and all weak-points I could, without cracking the block open. I will be one of the few where if it pops, it won't be because of poor install, poor tune or poor equipment. Worst case scenario, bad fuel or random circumstance, best case scenario, I exceeded the stock block limit.

I would never expect the block to last 200k, but I do expect it to exceed 20-40k, anything past that is just icing on the cake.

and what we are all saying is no one has gotten close to 20k at 550 torque, at least no one who actually gets it into boost for more than a few seconds a week. and thinking that spending more money on your kit will make it last longer is wrong, by spending more money you got a higher and sooner torque peak which is just going to make the block problem worse. While not having mistakes like a poorly setup used boost controller that over speeds the turbos to ~40 psi for a little bit will make it last longer, they still havent invented te magic pixie dust that keeps your stock rods from fatigue stressing, and bending.

We see eye to eye, don't know what you are arguing with. But I won't take the bait.

You can reread my post, but I am sure: "My plan is simple. mess around for a year at it's power levels, throw it into high boost after the year. Just see how long this engine can survive a 630/550+ beating while my built block is waiting." Was pretty clear that I expect the block to be on borrowed time at that number....

I get it tho, you like to argue...go nuts. I am in the wrong thread anyhow. I believe this is your side of town
