Need some feedback on the os giken twin disk. I'm looking at 2 options, one that is dampened and one that isn't. Both are twin disk.. Is the dampened worth the extra $400-$500?

I have the grand touring twin disk. It's much better than my old 6 puck. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy the same clutch.

I have the twin disc dampened ...
It is a little noisy...and takes a little getting used to.
You will also need the correct adapters to make it work.
You'll also need the RJM clutch pedal assembly as well to get any kind of normal adjustment out of it.
Hope this helps.

Wow didn't know there were other parts needed for this clutch.. Thanks for the info..

I have the dampened twin disc. TR2CD. Still really noisy. Grabs well with the stock pedal. But you need the adapter for the slave cylinder

COSMO 03-29-2016 08:37 PM

I'm guessing os giken sells this adapter? part #?

I actually got it from zspeed when i got the HD csc

zguynate 03-29-2016 09:11 PM

Yeah you can order it from ZSpeed. It's just a metal sleeve that fits over the throw out bearing to keep the slave cylinder from extending too far and past the seals.

COSMO 03-29-2016 09:26 PM

Oh ok cool, I already have the HD CSC..

I actually just ordered the sleeve and a CSC rebuild kit from Joe @ Zspeed!

My clutch started slipping TX2K week and I am just now getting around to ordering an OS Giken triple as I was told the twin wouldn't hold for long either. Unfortunately a friend beat me to the punch and got the last one in the USA so I have to wait weeks for one to come from Japan...

He doesn't sound like a good friend to me. I hope he's not on your top 8 friends on Myspace.

What gets me is trying to get the tq ratings on the os giken clutches. It's like pulling teeth but I think at this point it would be safe to go ahead with the triple..

Yeah I've heard and read things from some saying twin will hold for thousands of miles to some saying if it does it won't hold long. Seems the general area for twin is ~700 and triple is 1000+.

This is going to be my 3rd clutch in less than a year so I went for the triple as I don't want to have to do a 4th replacement in the short term.

jwick 03-31-2016 10:56 AM

Driving that triple is going to suck

bullitt5897 03-31-2016 10:58 AM

Triple does suck but you get used to it
