O rly? :)

So I guess we're all in the same boat about the manifold. I'd definitely look into upgrading to the GTX turbos when the motor decides to quit, but I'm going to run the stock block and Stage II turbos for as long as I can. There's no point rebuilding the GT28RS once it's off the car.

Don't blame you. Nice whip btw glad your keeping it.

Stock block with our TT kit and fuel return is 550whp on 93 octane all day.

May even keep my GT28RS if I do built block haven't decided. Yes the turbos would be maxed at 15ish PSI, but only driving her 4 to 5 hours a week isn't much abuse.

Different is the GTX's would complement the power curve for better pulls and obtain 50 to 60ish more whp compared to the GT28RS.

but

You have ask yourself, is it worth the extra $1600 for the swap?

When it is time to drop the motor for a build, the manifolds will need to be replaced as well. At this point, I would have to decide whether to rebuild the turbo or get a new pair of GTX turbos.

You have a lot miles on your kit. GTX all the way and just sell the 28RS.

What are your symptoms? I'm about to do a smoke test in the next month or two.

I read about Paige Baker's blue Z, and supposedly the destruction of her engine was caused by the cracked exhaust manifold. It sat for 2 years, and now it's a built beast like yours.

COSMO 04-14-2015 09:04 AM

Well for starters I noticed a rich condition on bank 2. At first it wasn't that bad but now my plugs are fouled and you could hear an exhaust leak. I'm now trying to decide what to do next if I should possibly put a stock motor back in and sell the car or design my own turbo kit using a 6466 precision turbo.. Much time and money wasted kinda puts a bad taste in your mouth when even thinking about going with another turbo kit.. :icon14::shakes head:

After talking with Charles and cjm, it appears the greddy manifolds have the same issue. So now I have a built motor and awesome fuel return system with No boost... lol

Gtm tt kit - crack manifold - MY350Z.COM Forums

Not sure if the GTM manifolds are the same for DE/HR/VHR like I read the Greddys are, but this might be worth looking into.

Somebody has got to be able to make a set of GTM replicas here in the States. I bet there are a lot of Z/Gs with this same problem.

bullitt5897 04-14-2015 09:41 AM

This is an inherent issue with Cast iron manifolds... Sucks bro...

COSMO 04-14-2015 12:21 PM

Hey thanks for the help but at this point I really don't know if I want anything gtm on my car. I'm looking at a set of oem exhaust manifolds on ebay and use that instead of anymore cast..

COSMO 04-14-2015 12:27 PM

I don't think anyone with a 370z has done a precision 6466 T4 with a 3" charge pipe on a built motor.

DIGItonium 04-14-2015 01:55 PM

IMO, the route I'd like to take is to figure out how to retrofit a new pair of snails and manifolds to the existing kit. It's fine the way it is besides a few improvements here and there. It might be cheaper and less time consuming, and the result is still a nicely boosted car.

Other route is to part the entire kit and switch over to F.I. TT kit. That would be my other option if all else fails. I can't fund any of this unless I sell the house and live in a small box - not a problem since I'm still single with no kids haha.

COSMO 04-14-2015 02:52 PM

It's a real shame because if it wasn't for the exhaust manifolds cracking its a very good kit..
