well im on a built block too and i was leaning out over 15psi so i had to scale it down to 14.5psi I was started running out of fuel so had to upgrade from a single pump to a dual pump. You might also need bigger injectors to hit ur goals. Just letting you know the stuff that i came across. But my fuel pumps are in now and im getting my new tune this weekend. so i'll let u know how that goes. good luck with your build man

COSMO 04-22-2015 01:27 PM

I don't think anyone has done a 370z with a new single precision ball bearing 6466 that I know of so it should be interesting..

hjo1078 04-22-2015 01:27 PM

keep us posted ! =)

COSMO 04-22-2015 01:32 PM

Currently I'm running a single aeromotive 340 with a fuel return system from cjm and a fuel lab fuel pressure regulator based on vacuum.. Also I figure the 80% rule with the fuel injector duty cycle should be fine with my 1000cc injectors...

Passenger side is all finished, driver side is still probably 6-8 weeks from being finished. But for now we are just building manifold/turbo/downpipe kit. Probably not a whole turbo kit.

COSMO 04-23-2015 01:46 PM

Will you be using v-bands or what?

Yes the manifolds have Tial V-Bands on them.

COSMO 04-26-2015 12:01 PM

I have decided to go upgrade my aeromotive 340 to a 400 aeromotive. After doing a lot of research between twin scroll or T4 it seems the twin scroll will spool faster but a regular T4 will make more hp and tq.. So many things to consider with pulse rate of our cars since it is a V motor and equal length runners in such.. I also may bump up to a 1.15 AR but again I still have a lot of things to work out..

blackonorange 05-07-2015 05:20 AM

Sasha already figured all that out^ and I'm pretty sure his kit comes standard with a 1.15 ar could be wrong tho. Just buy his kit, install it in an afternoon, make power.

Bringing this thread from the DEAD!!!!

For those who care and those who don't here don't care here goes......
Built motor from Bobby=Vortex, VSR, PRS,RJM, etc etc etc blown at around 2k miles. The cylinder didn't crack but a chunk was taken out.. lol
Yes I put my faith and lots of money in this guy to find out he can't leave the state of FL due to fraud over 50k, paying on several judgments to others to whom he has blown their motors as well, etc etc. Needless to say after speaking with his probation officer I no longer have any dealings with bobby Ralston.
Goods news I'm having bryan brooks build my new closed deck block with the only precision gen2 twin scroll 6466 switching from uprev to ecutek (no more maf issues with high boost). Before my motor blew it dynod at 748whp and 705tq at 25lbs. I've decided to continue this thread in hopes of saving any other unsuspectful people from his full line of bs but not to to be bashed ( in which I'm sure that will happen anyway on this forum).. Stay tuned and I will post up the motor pics.
Peace...

Yeah baby!!!!!
Turns out my internals are good but will replace the bearings and maybe pistons rings. Had my lower intake ported and polished and few other flow issues addressed. New block is at the machine shop soon to be bored and everything balanced.

New closed deck block and new front bumper.. Having the motor acid dipped before boring process..

Rusty 03-16-2016 08:28 PM

Coming back from the dead is right. LOL Well, Cosmo good luck to you on this build. Hopefully everything goes better.

COSMO 03-16-2016 08:39 PM

Thank you, like I said it's been a learning experience and a long journey but I'm not giving up..

Here is Bobby Ralston's mug shot from when he was convicted of Theft of State Funds for over 50k. If only I had known..

Sucks to have blown two motors but everything I've heard about Bobby's BS over the years, your experience doesn't surprise me.

Hopefully whoever you have building this one will put together the last motor you need.

COSMO 03-16-2016 09:28 PM

Man I'm hoping so. Actually you know him as the guy who made his own twin turbo setup (bryan).. BBR Racing located in GA..

Btw how is your car coming along? Built motor coming soon and more boost?

Here are some before and after pics of the lower intake..

Chuck33079 03-16-2016 09:34 PM

Man, that really sucks. Good luck with the new motor.

And good lord, that thing was making some major power before it let go. What's the goal now that you're going to a closed deck block? Do you have to address the cooling system again now that the water jacket is filled in?

Meth is a hell of a drug. :rofl2:

And what an idiot. Steal from individuals and you can get away with it. Steal from the state and they'll throw you under the jail.

COSMO 03-16-2016 09:45 PM

The close deck run the same temp if not a little cooler during pulls. The reasons for this is the inserts connect the cylinders walls to the outside of the block transferring the heat to the outside of the block. The inserts slow the coolant flow down a bit to obsorb more heat

Ah that dude. He went awol from the forum after he started building that motor.

Car is running great. Haven't got the itch for more power since the G is severely hampered in tire size getting that power to the ground.

COSMO 03-16-2016 10:04 PM

He had some health issues and setting up his shop takes time and money. So far so good on the communication. I actually trailered the car up there and met him and he is a really honest guy. I will let him chime in to fill in the details of his car but I can say its finished with the gtr cams and others goodies it will be one of the highest hp z's on the planet.. Did I mention he has a closed deck block too?

He seems really knowledgeable.

Good he has is running so you know it's tested.

There are some stupid power builds here.

BBRSpeedWorks 03-17-2016 08:04 AM

I'm still alive just stupid busy and had surgery to but I'll be updating my thead soon. I will also start one for the build on cosmo's car.

COSMO 03-17-2016 05:15 PM

Chuck are you still on that gtm kit? What did you ever do with those exhaust manifolds? Last I remember you were trying to find replacements?

Chuck33079 03-17-2016 06:06 PM

Mine are fine, I was just looking to get a set to have in reserve if/when they ever **** the bed. The new gtm/gamma claims they can get me a set whenever I need, but I doubt it. Gamma is just the same pile of **** in a new wrapper.

COSMO 03-17-2016 06:55 PM

I actually managed to get a new set from sam about almost a year ago but let them go when I sold my gtm kit.. Excited to see the upcoming z since it should be on the same platform as the 2017 Q60... Imagine a car already fast is so much easier making it FASTER....!!!! Speaking of that I think Nissan should release the new z right as toyo come out with the new supra!!!

zguynate 03-17-2016 08:13 PM

The closed deck, is that basically a block guard inserted in the block? Also what do you think caused the failure? One last thing, are you using OEM main bolts or do you have ARP mains?

COSMO 03-17-2016 09:15 PM

I was running oem mains and L19 head studs. I honestly think a combination of the engine build but mainly tune is what did it. The cylinder didn't crack but basically melted due to the tune. Found out later my bore was not correct to match my pistons causing piston slap.. 96mm from cp calls for 3.78 bore diameter (clearance 0.0035), mine was 3.5 Also my L19's were only torqued to 85.. He also fried my ecu and I was missing a motor mount bolt on the passenger side when the car came back.
This time around I am going with arp mains and I'm very confident in bryan building my motor this time around.. He's a really dedicated enthusiast.

Looks like the head gasket went right at the water jacket. Once that happened the block let go. Any pitting on the head gasket fire ring?

Were the piston skirts damaged? What was the measurements of the pistons? How much clearance did you have. Sometimes with tight clearances it can cause the rings to break. Any rings in pieces?

COSMO 03-17-2016 09:21 PM

YES

(The closed deck, is that basically a block guard inserted in the block?)

COSMO 03-17-2016 09:24 PM

Believe it or not the rings were fine (fully intact) but the head on the drivers side head was damaged..

Ugg, the machine work makes or breaks a motor build. Best parts in the world won't cover that up.

COSMO 03-17-2016 09:32 PM

I actually made a mistake on the clearances from I wrote the first time but it's corrected now..
