Hey they are both helpful now you know that the Z is not a car where you can monitor knock by checking the line voltage, and I posted up a way to keep your wastegates closed beyond what screwing in the actuator rod can get you and it costs like $5.

Edit: It is also failsafe because if the spring falls off or breaks you go back to low boost. Also you should be concerned because if they tuned you car off knock voltage they really weren't checking for knock at all while doing your high boost tune.

phunk 09-05-2014 08:05 PM

Has UpRev added any knock monitoring / logging yet? I havent connected to my car in a very long time to see what the latest updates have brought.

1slow370 09-05-2014 08:47 PM

They have added a non-functional knock counter lol

The eagle has landed, my car is home. Bobby made it in around 8:00 a.m. and I had breakfast and coffee ready. The car drives great and very smooth. That other youtube video should be up sometime today, will post a link..

my turn !!!

COSMO 09-06-2014 04:50 PM

Missing my steering brace plate under the car and skid plate.. Found oil sending unit unplugged and few other small things but no biggie. Going to need to plate that connect to the steering ram to the sub frame though..

elperuano 09-06-2014 06:01 PM

Minor details!

So tell us how does the ride feel? Ear to ear grin? Breaking loose on 3rd n 4th gear pulls? Seemed like a pretty quiet engine, more so than stock!

COSMO 09-06-2014 07:41 PM

I just came back from a short test drive and the car easily hit 14.5 psi in 5th gear around 5200rpm's. Based on that I believe the car would have hit 600whp but I'm not looking for a dyno queen. The torque is Insane in any gear but the aftermarket engine mounts make the interior a bit louder but it sounds great. At idle the car sounds really deep with zero rasp. It's very stealth and I couldn't be happier.!!!

MidnightBlueZ 09-06-2014 08:03 PM

Glad to hear it man.. You deserve it!

COSMO 09-06-2014 09:18 PM

Thank you, like I said it has been a long road but trust me when I say it was well worth the wait...:tup:

Right on, well enjoy! Guess it's Infidels turn next for forged POWA followed by me.

zguynate 09-07-2014 07:20 PM

Congrats! Sounds awesome!!

COSMO 09-07-2014 08:33 PM

After making small changes my boost controller I was able to hit 15.1psi in 5th gear this evening for a short and easy roll-on. I don't beat on my at all but mostly just do short roll-ons just for the record. No leaks or any strange sounds so far, fingers crossed I will have no issues..

Pull the key portion out and put a flat head in the slot and it'll pop open.

The car is feeling Great and still hitting just over 15psi in 5th. I drove the car to Nissan this morning to buy some ester oil just to get that broken-in oil out. Incredible ride, very smooth, so far so good. Call me crazy but when I back home I always pop the hood and startup a big shop fan in front of it.. Is that dedication or what?? lol

MidnightBlueZ 09-08-2014 10:01 AM

That's great news, so did they recommend to stick with Ester oil in the new engine or did they prefer a specific type?

COSMO 09-08-2014 10:11 AM

Ester oil for a few thousand miles just to make sure it is broken in and to be honest I may just stick with it afterwards... Can't wait for some fall weather!!!

Good time to start doing black stone oil analysis

Gotcha, I know man hopefully mine is ready before November. You got yours back just in time!

COSMO 09-09-2014 10:48 AM

What I don't understand is why they did the dyno tune in 4th instead of 5th. I thought 5th in our cars were 1.1 Nick when they dynoed your car what gear did they use?

i think 5th is 1:1 in the AT. 4th is 1:1 in the MT

but i think they still run both in 4th at most places.

MT is 5th for 1:1 but many do 4th because of speed limitations and dyno rollers.

you're right. idk why i thought it was split. i just went and checked the ratios again 5th is 1:1 for both.

my bad lol

COSMO 09-09-2014 11:28 AM

I remember bobby saying to me about some limitations on his dyno but didn't know that what it was for. Now I can't help but to wonder what it would have done in 5th..

1slow370 09-09-2014 12:00 PM

Just get it redyno'd and have the tune checked at z1 in 5th.

COSMO 09-09-2014 12:25 PM

I'm afraid of z1 since the stock motor blew there, only bad carma.. lol

phunk 09-09-2014 12:50 PM

I would be curious what your car puts down on a different dyno type. But as long as you have the load to make the same boost, the engine power does not change in different gears.

Hey Charles I'm now looking for some tires that will help me hookup in the rear. Any recommendations for 305/30/19? No drag radials and something that is not noisy.. Considering ps2's..

Hey Cosmo ...
Been following this thread with much interest...
Viewed the video a couple of times.
Is that you doing the narration ?
The car got power squirrelly on those upshifts! Awesome !

I have the PS2's ... nice looking tire and a bit pricey.
They are fairly quiet though on good roads, but they do squeal/chirp when you spin 'em.

The down side to them is they have a staggered tread pattern where the meatier portion of the tread is on the outside of the tire.

Great for going around curves but not to good on straight line acceleration.
With all that power, you have to be careful to keep the a** end from going around on you if you step on it in a curve.

They do break loose more when the temps go down too.

With negative camber (they do wear more on the inside) and the fact that our cars squat on launch, you lose a good deal of contact patch...I was also getting a goodly amount of wheel hop at the track.

Changed over to the M/T DRII's for the track.

Hope this helps ... someone else may have a different experience with them.
