Ok new master cylinder and 4 wheel alignment. Today bobby is actually driving my car putting some miles on it for the dyno tomorrow... Had a coolant leak yesterday but turns out it was only a loose hose clamp.. Stay Tuned.. Get it tuned?

zguynate 09-03-2014 12:45 PM

A friend of mine had his Z Speed slave fail on him last week. Its the first failure I have ever heard of.

nah there has been a handfull of them come up over the last couple years.

COSMO 09-03-2014 02:04 PM

That's not good.. Going to have to call zspeed and get the details.. You guys know your supposed to switch to the gtr clutch fluid right?

1slow370 09-03-2014 02:08 PM

yeah when it comes down to it all z speed did was adapt an oem saab part with new lines and a bracket, so it is still going to fail occasionally. At least it is more hit and miss with the saab csc than the oe one which is guaranteed to fail at some point.

COSMO 09-03-2014 02:14 PM

Well crap, I thought they designed the hd csc to be total bullet proof.. And it's not like an easy part to remove and install since you have to pull the tranny every time... :icon14::icon14:

I thought zspeed was the only aftermarket alternative that's why I switched...

Tilton makes one and Z1 has a complete vac delete option.

As for fluid I went straight synthetic

phunk 09-03-2014 02:19 PM

I wouldnt stress over it. Nothing on a car is bullet proof! Any moving parts you have added to your car have begun the process of wearing until failure the moment you installed them.

COSMO 09-03-2014 04:34 PM

Understand all moving parts wear but when we spend hard earned money on a part that is supposed to supersede a known failing part and it fails too is not too impressive.

Thanks,

he meant CSC delete, it converts our transmission to the older fork style unit. Slave on the outside pressing a fork/throwout bearing thats inside the transmission.

Z1 Clutch Concentric Slave Cylinder (CSC) Elimination Kit

jwick 09-03-2014 07:14 PM

^ what he said. Cell photo auto correct fuct me

1slow370 09-03-2014 07:58 PM

well the saab piece is leagues better in terms of reliability, the z1 one system just makes it easier to replace when it goes, the tilton pieces are great stuff but damn pricey. Oh and the oem one is garbage lol

Got it ...
I went thru the OEM clutch and then an ACT (from Stillen) single disc clutch...
Had the heavy duty slave made by ??? as well...

Seems these FI cars dine on clutches.

Finally went with the OS Giken twin disc ... has it's own slave and flywheel included if I remember correctly...it will bolt in however it does require it's own adapter to make it actually function ... (don't forget :-) or you'll be pulling the tranny again.

Once in we found out that there wasn't sufficient adjustments to bring the pedal engagement from off the floor ... Had to go with the RJM custom clutch pedal to gain enough adjustments in order to do that.
Highly recommend the RJM pedal ... he's on the forum here.

COSMO 09-04-2014 09:46 AM

It's dyno day so check back because I will post up the youtube video.. I'm having them make a few maps, low and high boost on 93oct..

DIGItonium 09-04-2014 10:25 AM

I'll tell you this... your project might be a huge PITA. Once it is done, you'll be able to enjoy it. Granted, it won't be the fastest car in the world. It'll have this character that other cars don't have. So I'd love to view some HD action clips and sound!

I honestly don't care for anything else out there, which is part of the reason why it's difficult to let it go. I'd love to build mine up someday... [sigh]. #singlelife #house haha

ANMVQ 09-04-2014 01:42 PM

Cant wait to see this on the dyno and you finally behind the wheel :)

COSMO 09-04-2014 03:39 PM

Just got a call from bobby, its on the dyno right now... I told him I wanted a 10psi map and a 15-16psi map..

COSMO 09-04-2014 04:12 PM

Low boost map is finished. Made 9psi 500whp, those custom pistons were worth the money.. Sorry I originally typed 10psi but it was 500whp
@ 9psi

elperuano 09-04-2014 07:11 PM

Congrats, I think I saw ur final numbers. I thought torque would be way higher

COSMO 09-04-2014 07:57 PM

This was 13psi...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZWq...ature=youtu.be

For some reason the wastegates were opening causing the boost pressure not to go any higher. When I get it back I will tighten up the actuators because before it was hitting 17-19 psi..

Rid3_FaM0uS 09-04-2014 08:14 PM

Nice pump numbers man! Much deserved for you Cosmo! Hopefully you continue to push that 16! Those would be killer!!

COSMO 09-04-2014 08:20 PM

Thanks for the kind words, it has been a long hard road but as of today I'm relieved. I should have my car back sat and you can count on me not getting any sleep Friday night....:driving::driving:

Will post a dyno up when I get it..

The peak torque was 471. The 435 torque was at the end of the power band around 6600rpm's...

MidnightBlueZ 09-04-2014 09:14 PM

Congrats man, those are good numbers.. Hope you're happy and enjoy it! I'm sure you cant wait to be back in the saddle. Sorry you didn't get the high boost setting you wanted but I'm sure you'll get it worked out. Regardless the beast lives again.

DIGItonium 09-04-2014 11:28 PM

Man that sounds so good. It revved up so fast under load. WANT.

wstar 09-05-2014 12:36 AM

My first thought at the end of the video was "Don't call it 571. It's 571.9, it deserves to be rounded off to 572 if you're going to approximate" :)

I'm glad you're finally getting on the road to success with this project :)

ANMVQ 09-05-2014 07:10 AM

DAMN that was FAST, no like a NA pull that's seems like it last for every LOL, GREAT cant wait to se you driving again!

JWillis72 09-05-2014 07:20 AM

It feels like I've been reading this thread forever, glad to see it's finally working out for you!

COSMO 09-05-2014 11:10 AM

Just wanted to thank everyone again who helped in this ordeal especially Charles at cjm motorsports. You won't find another knowledgeable guy on the vq than him in my opinion. Also bobby at vsr has done exactly what he said he was going to do since this transaction began. With my permission bobby asked if he could one more yourtube video showing the drivability of the car including several roll on's so stay tuned for that. I'm still looking for a nismo front bumper to complete the car along with going with wider tires for more contact patch, hint hint..

Mucho Grande Numeros !!!
1st Gear Pull ???

SRperformance 09-05-2014 12:28 PM

Well this engine build came out great. Our tuner paid us a very good compliment saying this engine is quiet and knock sensor is at zero voltage which is dam good for a forged engine.

The power comes on great with the 10:1 CP's

From the video it sounded like the block was bone stock. Yummy... want. But I rather keep a roof over my head at the moment. :(

Well considering it's a flat response knock sensor it is ALWAYS at 0.02-0.03volts regardless of knock level. (so if you go by knock sensor voltage when tunning it could be pinging every cylinder and you wouldn't know until it was so bad you could hear it)

You could always spring the actuators as well, go to the hardware store and bick up some various sizes of tension springs and do it up like this

His last post was helpful. And he's just a realist.
