I hear you chuck but the crack will only continue to grow then completely break!!!!! Are you even sure that cast manifold can even be welded?

I can only feel for all of those people still on the gtm group buy. Along with me this will be a hard lesson learned.

Most definitely agree you should not have to deal with it. You paid top dollar for what should have been a kit that gives you years of enjoyment.

If you end up personaly transporting that manifold up Sam's @ss, swing by Houston on your way and Chuck and I will get you drunk on us!

If you have the crack repaired, and then support the turbo with a bracket like esfourteen did, how is it going to break? Maybe the guy who made the brackets for him could turn out another set for you.

COSMO 02-25-2014 02:52 PM

Thanks chuck I will check on it because I have no faith gtm will do the right thing and send me another manifold... I should just stick a stock motor back in there and sell my built motor and go buy a gtr....

You'll get it handled. It'll be better than before. It's just a shitty process. Boost withdrawal may cause depression. Most doctors would prescribe scotch, a cigar and yelling profanity at the car.

Some of the GTRs have turbo-manifold issues too. A guy at the office busted a bolt on the turbo-manifold connection. Motor had to be dropped to fix it. Shop quoted him 24hrs of labor.

24 hrs of labor plus GTR tax had to be a fortune.

So the block itself is still good? The manifolds have cracked. Sharpbycoop reported it but didn't seem affect his built block and he banged on it hard. Course it doesn't excuse it.
Good luck buddy.

It was esfourteen that had the issue. His name escaped me. He had it repaired and a bracket made. Sharpbycoop(?) also reported a cracked manifold without any leaking or ill effects.

manifold could not be repaired, and this was attempted by someone who does welding/fabrication for a living and has built countless exhaust/cages for race cars.

GTM charged me for a new manifold, they only have a 1 year warranty on parts

This ^, had to replace the manifold that came with my used kit as it was far from a weld repair. A shiny new $+450 mani was the only option... :shakes head:

I really hope the new manifold will eliminate the crack issue or else whats the point? :\\
