Great job Cosmo. Grats on getting that puppy out!

How long total do you speculate it has taken you to get this far? (total time working on it)

You guys aren't going to believe this but my driver side exhaust manifold is CRACKED in 2 places. Holy f-in !@#$%^&*(

To anyone else looking to buy gtm's CRAP you may want to reconsider... At this point I'm totally screwed.. Also to all of you guys who got out of the group buy on their turbo kit was very smart.

You don't have someone local to weld them up? And is it leaking, or just cracked? I don't see a lot of soot built up, so does the crack even go through?

jwick 02-25-2014 02:03 PM

That blows...I suggest booze and then regroup

COSMO 02-25-2014 02:04 PM

Thank you, I would estimate about 4 hours only because I took my time organizing the parts and tagging everything.

I should fly out to cali and bring my CRACKED exhaust manifold with me to to see how sam would walk with it in his anus...

It is a crack and it is long. I will take off the turbo to take a better pic.. Honestly at this point I may consider another tt kit since this one only has 3-4 k miles on it and it is already FAILING... !@#$%^&*():shakes head:

I'm not sure how well that would work. It's a high stress/heat area. Maybe if you gouged out the entire cracked area and rewelded it. If you don't dig out the crack I would expect it to be like adding concrete patch to crack in the driveway. They eventually propagate through.

Chuck33079 02-25-2014 02:10 PM

If I were you I'd have it welded up, make a bracket like that other guy with this issue did and go on with life.

COSMO 02-25-2014 02:11 PM

I'm sure it's some cheap Chinese crap he had made from a mold and bought in bulk..

jwick 02-25-2014 02:13 PM

You have the manifold to use as a jig. Can your engine builder build you two custom turbo manifold to fix it? It'll be pricey but it'll definitely fit with the rest of your kit and it it's fabricated instead of cast it'll be an upgrade.

Chuck33079 02-25-2014 02:14 PM

It was esfourteen that had the issue. His name escaped me. He had it repaired and a bracket made. Sharpbycoop(?) also reported a cracked manifold without any leaking or ill effects.

COSMO 02-25-2014 02:17 PM

I guess it's possible but I shouldn't have to do that. I will send gtm an email with pictures just to see how they handle the situation. Yes it may be next Christmas before I get a response but it's worth a try..
I can only feel for all of those people still on the gtm group buy. Along with me this will be a hard lesson learned.
