That's actually pretty nice. Need to measure the diameter of the cross bar..

jwick 05-30-2014 04:33 PM

For the IS I bought one from safedrives.com but it appears the one I bought is not currently available

COSMO 05-30-2014 04:49 PM

How is the car coming along jwick??

jwick 05-30-2014 04:53 PM

If you are referring to the G

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/05/31/ary3eduh.jpg

Currently in pieces again chasing a damn oil leak. Really hate AN swivel fittings.

Other than the oil leak its great. Runs good, makes a ton of power and sounds good. Got Mr. Gales pillar install last weekend. Waiting on my upgraded exhaust since my stillen turned out to be a bottleneck.

If you are referring to the Lexus, haven't touch it since last year. G took over priority. Maybe it'll be on the track for 2015

thereis a marine company that makes an automatic extinguisher for engine compartments, it has a polymer line and when flames burn the line it ruptures releasing the powder foam whatever. Sea-Fire Marine - FT Stinger Series, FM-200 Fire Extinguishers

Yeah just remember not to breathe in the halon or you will die, every street car should have one.

Edit: Wait cosmo you should get one.

AFFF systems aren't Halon. It's a foam with a powder in it, designed for putting out fuel fires. I'd much rather be covered in foam than stuck in a burning car.

COSMO 05-31-2014 08:18 AM

Yea, that's it.. Where did you get it?

I saw it when it was posted a while back. I think valpozguy had a previous experience with some fire.

COSMO 05-31-2014 02:51 PM

Well not saying I'm going to have any problems with my new fuel return system but there are a lot more parts and fittings. Better be safe than sorry. We need to get with that guy and find out where he bought his because I like the way it looks and the fitment..

COSMO 06-07-2014 06:25 AM

Update: the motor is in!! Got it in last night so hopefully before the month is over I should be riding again... will shoot some pics later.

black_sedan 06-10-2014 01:23 AM

Alright ladies and gents, I'm BACK!!! Been trying to sell my house for a few months now and now have a cash offer so I am now forced to get my car up and going Fast... It's crazy since my little vacay to Jamaica since I've been back everything just seems to flow perfectly..... It's funny what a week long of listening to Bob Marley does to you.:tup:

jwick 06-13-2014 11:37 AM

Don't forget the pot

COSMO 06-15-2014 03:24 PM

Soon I will be refilling the coolant system and was considering doing a 75/25 water/antifreeze mix mainly due to fact that it really doesn't get that cold here. Anyone else running this mixture or close?

black_sedan 06-15-2014 03:52 PM

Should work fine. I've heard of guys up here that run the same mix with a bottle of water watter with no issues.

That was my goal. think I missed a little heavy on the antifreeze. we have very similar climates so go for it. Don't forget the water wetter

Looking good and hoping that it all works out in the end for you. I have been reading this thread and also the other one where the guy from FL blew his engine.

MidnightBlueZ 06-21-2014 06:18 PM

Sweet! Looking forward to seeing the results, I bet you can't wait to be up and running again.

COSMO 06-21-2014 07:49 PM

I'm dying to drive my car again, especially since I can now run the max boost levels knowing the motor will hold the power... At the gulf for 4 nights so should finish it before next week is over. Thanks for the support..

I just picked up a set of nismo rims and could use a hand on spacers or no spacers..?? With my sport wheels I ran 25mm rear and 20mm front but I believe the off set is different on the nismo's..

NEVER run spacers!

COSMO 06-21-2014 08:26 PM

Have ran spacers on everything I have ever owned and never had any issues...

jwick 06-21-2014 08:41 PM

Fortunate and a lot of people are in your boat. I happen to be in the group that will never consider spacers but I'm an engineer and can do the math of the impact.

COSMO 06-21-2014 09:11 PM

ok, well maybe you should start a thread on wheel spacer safety.. lol

jwick 06-21-2014 09:12 PM

So what we you engine break in procedure requirements?

COSMO 06-21-2014 09:28 PM

Actually I'm planning on priming the fuel system and turning the motor over without actually starting it to lube the motor... Hell what do I know... lol

Start it for the first time and let it idle for about 20 min then drain the oil.. Do another oil change and do another in 500-600 miles... Of course using Nissan oil..

Hell, I do the turn over bit when I change oil and also when I installed the oil cooler. Why Nissan thinks 1500-1800 idle at start is a good idea is beyond me. Maybe we all should have a kill switch and crank them for 5- seconds before firing them. lol

COSMO 06-21-2014 09:37 PM

New built motor, with new internal parts all working for the first time..

I tried that too after the turbo install but there was enough residual fuel in the line it fired up anyway

COSMO 06-22-2014 08:11 AM

Planning on taking out the plugs and disconnecting the main wiring harness going to the fuel rail.. Hopefully it will not start by doing that... :bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:

valpozguy 06-22-2014 09:22 AM

There is nothing wrong with spacers as long as you use extended studs. Never use other kind. Just because you are an engineer doesn't mean much. I work with eight of them and I would not let them work on my mechanical ball point pen. I'm not saying you are not a good one but when ever I hear " Trust me I'm an engineer " I run the other way. Being smart is will keep you safe, and being stupid..... well we all know these kind of people.

COSMO 06-22-2014 11:40 AM

I couldn't agree more but to each his own.. jwick is a good guy though.
