You reuse all your own hardware. Latches same as stock...

ANMVQ 05-16-2014 09:55 AM

like Wheel said you reuse all you stock hardware, I ran that hood on my G37 helped a lot with temps,

Hood down, mounted. Excellent heat release.

^Nice! This is swaying me more and more toward this hood. Do you have any full frontal shots? haha I'm serious, would like to see it straight on too.

Have you logged temps -- just wondering what the net change was?

wheee! 05-20-2014 05:03 PM

plus 18 degrees on Sunday and I couldn't get oil temps over 90 with a 19 row cooler.... 2 hours hwy driving and some city.

What were you seeing previously under those or similar conditions?

wheee! 05-20-2014 06:05 PM

Temps around 100...

I will try and get some more data soon. I've only had the car out once since the install...

roplusbee 05-20-2014 06:35 PM

Perfect!

esfourteen 05-20-2014 07:47 PM

aerojacket definitely works well, my oil and water temps have yet to exceed 195F and that was beating the crap out of the car at 16psi. normal driving my oil temps sit around 170 now, 180 if its warm out. this is with a mishimoto radiator and a 25row oil cooler.

^^^ That's pretty impressive.

Just make sure you aren't over cooling -- beating on it much before 170* F is a bit on the cold side, but hovering right around 180* - 200* is probably perfect in terms of lubing and also keeping the ECU and valvetrain happy.

Yes thats definitely worth mentioning, too cold is bad. It's annoying when its colder out because it takes longer to warm up, and I don't boost at all or rev over 4k rpm's if the oil is < 160F, but I don't drive it at all during winter so its only a minor annoyance in spring/fall. Once it gets to summer temps here I will be glad I have the extra cooling.

Ah, How i missed this thread?

I was in same situation after i installed the TT kit, I had heat issue and it was seriously annoying so started with venting the hood.

I really didnt like any of aftermarket hood supplied to G37 coupe. so I had to steal a design from another world, BMW for instance.

After countess of hours research and see what fits taste I end up with vorsteiner hood for bmw 3 series.

Tada! Its not exactly what I wanted but looks similar atleast.

The funny part is the company that made my hood now calls it type s version 1 g37 hood (or what ever its called now) and sells it as their design without a single permission:shakes head:

After all this hood really works and looks good. Im sorry Vorsteiner for stealing the design but i had to do it due the lack of body kit available for G37 coupe:rolleyes:

Does anyone know what company it was that made this hood for him or know of any companies that will do the same sort of thing?

I want to get vents into my Z, but I don't like any of the vented aftermarket hoods currently available for the Z.

I want a more simple and elegant vented hood like these BMW type ones.
