The price may be legit, but it's a wet carbon hood. The OEM style dry carbon hood costs more than twice what the one in the link does. There's just no way.

Dry carbon would be lighter. Wet carbon is probably the same as stock if not heavier.

Any good "custom" body work type place can do a passable job if you're okay with them using filler and whatnot.
If you want a true artist to do it via welding aluminum.. No, I don't know one off hand, and if you find one, you're talking hundreds per hour in labor and finishing. Welding aluminum that is that thin and re-finishing it all to not look awful is going to cost a bank. |

yup I would professionally estimate an all metal modification to factory hood would cost about a grip. Best bet is to talk to a big custom shop near you, kinda like your' closest west coast customs or similar and ask them if they know a guy. There are probably only a handful of guys in the country that could shrink and stretch the hood back into shape after welding in vents if you want it all done in aluminum with minimal filler. After you get the bill for that you'll just end up sending it to get it glassed, or buying a carbon replacement(And by that I mean it is probably gonna be priced right around one of the varis dry hoods, yeah all aluminum no filler work can cost that much)

See the problem is what you want really. The best way to do it would be to bust out the hammers, sandbag, and dollies, make a couple cuts and start forming the raised and lowered areas but it takes YEARS to learn how to get the smooth straight and even countours you want while expanding the metal to keep it from warping, and with the aluminum they may have to flame aneal it and that would make everything worse. I would bet most of the places doing it right now are either welding in louvered insert and smoothing it with filler or fiberglassing it.

How about a set of pre-make vents out of alumunim? Just cut a hole in the hood. And drop the pre-make vents into place. Rivet or glue down, then do the body work to smooth over. This way, you still have the light weight stock hood, and it shouldn't break the bank.
