Um, the GTX setup was developed concurrently with the MHI setup so that the manifolds and turbos are cross compatible. Sorry if our ability to think broader than your average performance manufacturer bothers you. Our experience on this platform has allowed us to produce a kit that fits a wide range of cars with a wide range of options: everything from cars with automatic transmissions to right hand drive to AWD to the FX35/37 to early G37's to the latest 2014 370Z.

As someone that already has a GTM kit I am only commenting here as a bystander, but I couldn't help it after reading that reply from GTM.

I don't think anyone is bothered that you're "releasing" more options for the Z platform, however, you currently have another group buy for a different turbo kit going on several months and that thread sees very few updates (I know you've updated it recently). Did you expect there would be no upset customers when you announce another turbo kit when the previous newly released kit hasn't shipped yet?

All these kits are basically interchangeable with just different turbo/intercooler/piping/fuel options, so I understand that announcing it while the manifolds are finished makes no difference and can actually benefit some customers who would want to upgrade now, but to some people this is going to be perceived as releasing many products and not following through.

You should consider dropping the attitude from your replies and perhaps instead explain that this is not taking focus away from your other kits.

when I was in their shop in August and Sept, looking at everything they have going on, the MHI kit is only one piece of their picture. They're finishing up theanifold conversion, doing a V8 swap, they have an FRS in there, a Juke, I was told about the fuel starve kit they were working on back then too. The MHI kit is a waiting game now on suppliers. Outside of customer cars and fulfilling orders, R&D is happening all the time. These GTX turbos were also mentioned way back then for the white dragon Z. When it really comes down to it, The GTX turbo market is pretty small and the only major difference from what they have already are the turbos and fuel options. GTM or any of us can't control how people will take the news or an announcement. All it is is information.

This

I see it as a smart business move IMO. As you said it's an option to upgrade for even better value for what you get. But as you stated "perceived as releasing many products and not following through". I don't see it that way and nor should they. You have to look at this from a business aspect. Why offer this after the other kits ship leaving people on the other spectrum wonder why wasn't this offered sooner? GTM stated it would be released 30 days after so why not try to land some more business while your at it being there are several crossover parts that make all this go together and they are so close to releasing all of it?

Plus this kit basically slams all others out of the water. GTM has officially mopped up the market for all your FI kits IMO. Yes it's been a drawn out process but it's within sight and for years to come.

As for some people possibly perceiving us as releasing many products and not following through, we had actually mentioned the GTX version a while back and talked about the T25+ turbine housing before. In fact, there are several of our past customers that have been interested in upgrading to the new manifolds with the T25+ housings and GTX turbos. The release thread is a formality that describes more about the work that we have done and what we are formally offering as part of the kit as well as the pricing.

Offering the GTX setup as an optional upgrade to the people on the group buy at a drastically reduced introductory price is simply presenting them with an opportunity to get even more bang for their buck if they want it.

The GTM brand is all about offering options and not boxing people into a limited setup. We also offer all the supporting modifications to accentuate a wide variety of builds under one roof. As such, it should come as no surprise that we are constantly pushing the envelope and developing more parts and please forgive me for being proud of what we do here.

Speaking of which, here is a sneak peak at the Twin Fuel Pump we have in the works:

This setup allows for up to 2x Walbro 400lph fuel pumps to be run in parallel for big power E85 setups. It also acts as a surge tank (inside the factory fuel tank) and has a unique setup to prevent fuel starvation with a relatively easy install. One of the best parts about this unit is that it will be very affordable and is very easy to configure for a wide variety of builds: from a naturally aspirated track build to a full on, big power, E85, forced induction build.

(Sorry if our ability to think broader than your average performance manufacturer bothers you.)

Mike I think we both know that's not the case now so try and relax and breath. Hey if I answered the phone all day I would be pms-ing too especially if I were Way behind on 90% of many important promises and missed deadlines...
Just to wrap it up here I enjoy my gtm TT kit but worry about having to deal with gtm down the road if and when I have issues due to their lack of staff...
If business is really that good why not hire more help.. You guys spend 100k on machines but not on staff.? My apologies guys but when mike feels the need to check me I cannot refuse sorting out the facts...

How does developing all these kits impact finishing CARB certification on a kit you've had out 3 years?

Give it up. Obviously CARB certification isn't happening anytime soon. Either buy a Stillen kit, but an unapproved GTM kit, or fab your own kit and get it approved. Most of us don't give two ***** about CARB.
