Stillen supercharger and engine fail. :(

Hey guys, have a 2011 nismo with stillen SC KIT, upgraded oilcooler, and upgraded injectors. Had a massive engine phail last week. Car stalled, took forever to start back, and was knocking once it did. Not blowing smoke, no service engine light. Have it in the shop right now and so far it LOOKS like the SC is ok. Appears that the issue was a rod bearing. Upgrading to performance rods/pistons. Will find out tues if there's any damage to crankshaft or not. Say a prayer for me. This is gonna cost a little bit, plus my babies down for probably the next month. More to follow......

sorry to hear that Dantrag, wish you best of luck.

What kinda tune were you running on? base tune?

Dantrag 09-07-2013 11:01 PM

No, ditched the canned tune and had an uprev custom tune.

Jasonle 09-07-2013 11:08 PM

Good luck man. Sucks.

swiss370Z 09-08-2013 11:39 AM

Good luck man too...!

Hope it all comes good!

Serious bummer. What #'s were you putting down?

See good in bad. Now you can take her up to 700+ whp!!

but on the other end you'll have to ditch that stillen if you want power your shortblock can handle.

Isn't this the second motor only that has let go?
Werent they both on stillens?

Fingers crossed for a good result here. Good luck!

I'm leaning towards bad tune regardless of custom tune via Uprev.

Maybe he needed the 88mm pulley!!!!!;)

Dantrag 09-08-2013 08:59 PM

Had upgraded pulley and belts, at 8lbs was making 409whp which is where the phail happened. Have previously dyno'd 490whp at 12lbs. Having z withdrawal already.

Ouch. Stupid question. Can this be done from the bottom without the need to drop the engine and pull the heads?

gussyturbo z 09-08-2013 10:16 PM

Man that really sucks sorry to hear that. I have 20,000 miles on my stillen sc kit no problems yet. Maybe it was your tune.

Dantrag 09-08-2013 10:30 PM

Not sure if it can be rebuilt from bottom up or not. Have a feeling we're gonna have to pull the engine. Have a feeling we'll have to pull it. And yeah..... It's gonna get a different tune after the rebuild. :/
