GTM Stage 1.5 supercharger build
So, I'm about ready to pull the trigger on the Turnkey kit. I plan on installing myself. The car isn't a DD, though I drive it a lot.. I have my jeep to take over DD responsibility till i finish the build.
Parts list: Gonna need the supercharger oil cooler line kit for my 25 r cooler. Mike recommends the one with thermostat.. do I really need it? I let her warm up fully before driving to begin with. Gonna get some digital gauges to replace my stock voltage gauge and my clock to monitor boost/afr and oil pres / water temp. I have art pipes. I've read the fitment with the new oil filter location can be close.. Anyone chime in? I've got the FI non-res c/f cbe fwiw, and I do still have my stock cats, as Baer recommended using them. I've got jack stands, torque wrenches, and a ton of tools. My roommate and I are both air force C-17 mechanics.. Crew Chiefs. I think we can handle things, but any advice and tips are more than welcome. Catch cans will come once I see how everything sits. Stock clutch / csc for now. Car is a 2011 Touring/Sport 6MT. Hoping for 450whp on 8lbs and 490whp @10lbs. |

The thermostatically controlled plate will let oil circulate back to the block and when opened roughly 180 deg

Whats the difference really between the two? Engine-wise isn't just the exhaust different?
Yeah, otherwise it's just an open circuit and takes longer for the oil to warm up from my understanding Thanks for the info Baer Last edited by snowsurfdirtx; 09-06-2013 at 09:25 PM. |

It doesn't take longer to warm up b/c most of the flow by passes the cooler till 180 deg. You can use the Art pipes if you want to ,Sam told me to use stock cats b/c they keep some back pressure in the exhaust and these engines have a lot of overlap, the extra pressure in the exhaust will aid in cylinder filling hence more power.

Makes sense on the overlap. I'll probably swap back to stock cats and use the FI exhaust |

Yes, they will eventually get clogged or burn out. I had the Art pipes with sc, and they were a pain in the a$$ to get around when cleaning the air filter. I highly suggest, OP, that you use a good high quality 2.4-5 inch test pipe. Trust me, you will still have plenty good of back pressure.

I'll grab some to regular test pipes to try on the dyno along with the stock cats. Thanks for the tip. Steve |

Nope, one large Green filter under the car next to right cat for the stage 1.5. The stage 1 kit has filters behind the bumper.

Yea cats are recommended for superchargers. The backpressure is what aids the supercharger performance. Yes they'll burn out but I take that as a regular maintenance. But GTM has there new high performance cats coming soon. Giving a longer life.

Don't sit here and suggest that test pipes will have plenty of BP you don't really think a TP is going to hold BP.There are plenty of guys hear running cats including myself that have a lot of miles with no issues some guys have 20k +.

Don't waste your time of money it is not worth it,I haven't done any special stuff when I put my SC in, I just made sure to dial in my tune and so far nobody has more power than me with this kit and I don't have any issues.

If I'm holding 10 lbs of boost fine and pushing 450whp on 100+ degree days in an auto and Invidia TP's with no issues, I think I'm more than qualified to offer my experience to a potential buyer. So get off your high horse, there is more than one way to peel an onion. I'm sure everyone is glad what you have is working for you.
