Stillen Front Bumper work with GTM TT?
Anybody know if the stillen front bumper will work with the gtm TT? If so any pics?
|
I remember looking at this a while back before I broke down and bought a front lip. it looked like there would have to be some modification to the bumper to let it clear the air filters and piping. You'd get some great airflow to the IC if you made it work.
|
I think it will clear more than fine. A lot more room/ clearance than stock.
|
My concern was the bit between the main opening and side vents, and the inner part of the side vents. I've never seen the back of the Stillen bumper, but that's the area you would have an issue if you had one at all.

Looks like there was a little trimming to clear the pipe with the bov on it. Looks great though. I'm jealous of the airflow he's getting to the ic.

There might be just a little. No big deal. I love this clip. I wouldn't trade mine for nothing. Be nice if Stillen made it lighter but it holds up very well.

Nothing a good body shop couldn't handle.

It's funny you mention the air flow going into the intercooler because I recently trimmed my stock plastic trim (about 4 inches) above the fangs, basically the unpainted parts of the stock bumper just to see if it would a difference. Turns out after monitoring the temps after the AIT dropped 5%. Just that little bit more of air allowing the intercooler to cool the air made it drop that much.. That's why Iam looking into the stillen or a oem nismo front bumper...
|
I would think the oem nismo bumper would allow less airflow than stock. It doesn't have the fangs, but isn't the opening smaller?
|
I don't think the OEM Nismo will provide more, I did some measuring, the coupe actually has a bigger "area" but has more blocks. Fangs, black plastic pieces, etc.
Here is a Nismo TT, the intercooler basically hugs the front. http://oi53.tinypic.com/33kaqdl.jpg |
If you want maximum airflow I would go with one of these options:
Stillen Amuse Fujimura |

I don't have the picture anymore, a guy in Houston had his coupe bumper & went to the Amuse front end. It was a worlds of difference, the Amuse is about 1-2" wider and extends forward a good inch allowing for more air to go around the intercooler.
The issue with the larger intercoolers & the Nismo/coupe bumpers is the intercooler almost touches the front allowing little airflow around it. The aftermarket ones are a bit longer and open up that front area for side travel. I do agree the Stillen/Fujimura are the top 2 in terms of maximizing airflow. |
I was able to find the Amuse intercooler picture.

The stillen fascia works great with my boosted performance turbo kit. Even on track I have very reasonable oil and water temps.

The Rocket Dancer was recommended when I mentioned this to GTM...

hey the stillen bumper takes lots of trimming and cutting. In the end its worth it. I had to bring it back to the shop yesterday because its sitting on the piping on the passenger side and theres nothing on the drivers side so its settling more on the drivers side causing it to look crooked. I think im the guinee pig on this one so i went out on a limb. As for flow well you said it right that sucker flows. I also have a csf radiator, 34 row oil cooler, and wide open vents on the hood. The car is so much less moody then before when it comes to outside temps. Yall know what im talking about.
|
We'll have to see. The new GTM kit (MHI) has different location of piping. So I'll see when it comes. When that might be.
