so you own the stillen kit?

please enlighten us on how it is garbage?

can you recommend another carb approved kit that will make tons more power?
Would have is not the same as did. That's the closest someone has come to 500 with the Stillen kit. I wouldn't call it garbage, but it is significantly down on power compared to other options. You do not have to own something to read and research something to come to an informed decision.

No, I don't own a Stillen kit and will never own one. I'll stick with my stage 2 turbo.
That link u posted doesn't even make 500 and as u can tell from the title of the thread it is a HEAVILY modified kit. The only thing Stillen about that kit is the piping I believe. You're not going anywhere with a Stillen kit. If ur lookin for carb certified with power you're just wasting time and money (for now).

I love your comment. Seriously that guy doesn't understand how bad stillens kit is till he actually gets it. Their carb sticker is a joke, you have to get it tuned with stock cats on to even get that sticker, then you have to pay more to get it retuned once you put test pipes on to even make 412rwhp or whatever they claim their kit makes.

I have been reffed twice in my life, they do not touch your car at all. Don't take anything apart, nothing. I got reffed with my 350z, went with my god dammm nitrous lines and fogger installed and they didn't say anything lmao. the ref fine for me was $130. I had every bolt on imaginable for that car. People think ref tickets are such a big deal when they really aren't. If you cant afford the tickets you are going to get then just don't mod your car. Smog isn't a big deal for me either. I never have smogged a car in my life.

To the guy that is getting the stillen kit, make a complete build thread so I can follow it please. I REALLYYYYYY want to see you make 500rwhp with that kit. I'd rather spend $7500 at a strip club in one night than buy Stillen's kit hahahaha. GL!!!

Anyways, OP most of the carb related stuff don't even matter when you get pulled over. If a cop pulls you over and he feels like writing you a ticket, he will. If you do go FI, just make sure you drive carefully in areas that you know cops usually chill at.

i dont know about you but i dont have the time or money for ref tickets, got 1 with my turbo eclipse and the ref failed me for a K&N pod filter on the stock intake pipe

sure some refs dont care about bolt on parts but there are some who are real a-holes and it honestly isnt worth the time or money

cool story bro, refer to my ref experience above

all it took was one ticket for me to learn, and it cost me close to $400 to put my eclipse back to stock and pay for the ref fines plus i had to take 2 days off work to get everything done

too much of a PITA for me to deal with, i would personally rather modify the stillen kit, not make as much hp, and not get hassled by cops/refs for mods(having the sticker is no guarantee from cops but i doubt refs will take apart the entire kit and measure everything and make sure the kit is still at carb spec), oh and its not about not being able to afford tickets i will get(as you say), its about not wasting time and money on getting around CARB(and thats great you live in an area with no emissions testing, i dont live in an area with no emissions so unlike you, i have to smog my cars every 2 years)

oh and the comment about test pipes, i could care less about test pipes, if i wanted a loud car with amazing flow(but i dont), i would just put an electric cutout before the cat after installing the supercharger and getting the carb sticker

trust me if i lived in another state, ill be all over fast intentions twin turbo kit or GTM's MHI twin turbo kit, but unfortunately i live in california so that isnt the case

yes but it is by no means a bad kit, it may not be what you personally want but the stillen kit for what it is, is by no means bad and thats what im defending here. im not saying the gtm supercharger kit is bad, im not saying turbos are bad(in fact anyone with any basic understanding as to how cars work would agree that turbos are better than superchargers, always), im saying is that the stillen kit is not a bad kit like everyone makes it out to be

It's not "bad", it's just severely compromised compared to other fi options. That's why you see so many people changing the parts of the kit (and technically losing their carb certification).

From the wiki:

"California is the only state that is permitted to have such a regulatory agency, since it is the only state that had one before the passage of the federal Clean Air Act. Other states are permitted to follow CARB standards, or use the federal ones, but not set their own."

Ummm I live in Cali too... What's the point in buying a Stillen kit if you are just going to change out half the stuff just to make more power? A GTM kit will still make more power than a fully modified Stillen kit, and for a lot less cheaper. If your just mainly after that carb sticker than I feel bad for you bro lol. Anyways, get the Stillen kit, get your carb sticker, and have fun with your amazingly slow Z. My guess is that you will be making around 360rwhp with stock cats. Your are going to bust through those cats and than you are never going to be able to smog your car post a build thread PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Im sorry But by the looks of things IF YOU or anyone else is going to need updates?

Feel free to pickup the phone and simply just call them for an update.

Its obvious GTM is too busy to keep their threads up to date.

Please refrain from just bumping this any longer unless theres a development.

Thank You.
