I am currently sitting at Akuma Motorsports picking my 370z up from this nightmare of an experience. I brought my car here Friday at 3pm and waited until 7 pm to be told my car would not fit on the dyno and i would have to leave it here overnight when I SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED MY CAR WAS VERY LOW AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD FIT. Then Saturday I was highly advised not to come pick my car up because it wouldn't be ready with no reason why. This shop is closed Sunday and Monday so that brings us into Tuesday. They couldn't do any work on my car because it was raining and they needed to road tune it. OK. Now Wednesday. I call the shop twice; once at noon and once at 2:30. No one calls me back until 5pm (which is when this place closes) to tell me he cannot figure out why the car is over boosting and he would have to take the entire kit apart to check my work. I said no thank you I am coming to get my car tomorrow (that being today...Thursday) and i will take it somewhere else. Now I arrive here today a little after 5 after leaving work early to be told many other issues like my inter cooler piping blew off and they had to charge me another hour of labor. When we originally agreed on 1 hr of labor and no talk of any I/c piping blowing apart was mentioned to me. So I am siting in a parking lot waiting for my buddy to pick me up with his trailer and look forward to a 2 hour ride home. It's been 7 days of lies. DO NOT COME TO THIS SHOP. They have been so unprofessional and now I will not be able to attend the biggest event of the year (locally) when I specifically said I need this car by Sunday.

Sorry to hear it man! Good luck getting it all worked out. A good shop is a godsend.

This is the problem with this kit. The piping of this kit is shady at best. I know some will come to the rescue of the STS kit but with some better engineering this kit might of been a good cheap FI option. I hope you didn't pay a lot for this kit. No more than $2500 I would hope.
I know some will blame the installation of this kit but it's only half the problem. 1. The inner cooler is WAY to small. They have a new one but it'll cost you to upgrade 2. With an oil cooler, you have to remove part of the piping to change the oil filter 3. The kit will never be allowed in a city that has noise restriction 4. DO NOT ADD A METHANOL INJECTION OPTION! It will rust your pipes! I can continue forever but I will leave with lesson learned of an unproven kit. Pictures are worth a thousand words..... Last edited by tower74; 04-25-2013 at 09:27 PM. |

It's all about the shop. Also who you know that can help you out when your shyt starts to fail. I've got to thank my buddy Dustin. Otherwise I would of burnt my old Z up a long time ago. Like I use to tell my crew...."If you're scared, go to church."

Anthony, I really think you maybe reacting a little unfairly. AkumaMotorsports has done everything possible to keep your car safe and when going through your installation there were many thing we did not charge for, all for the sake of making sure the kit would hold together.
As far as dyno fitment I personally strapped down the car and the pipes were rubbing (hence the road tune). A statement such as "my car is really low" is subjective over the phone. I have responded back to you vis PM's and emails. As a matter of fact, not too far above you posted how professional we were. ("I had the guys at AKUMA do a once over on my car and they were able to correct a few of MY mistakes. These guys are awesome! And have been extremely helpful in this tuning process. They have treated me with the up-most respect and are all very knowledgeable in this field. I am very happy I found AKUMA Motorsports and highly recommend them.") We helped you with the trailer and taking the car off which was not easy (for insurance reasons we really never do this, but we knew you needed help). We went through everything on the car all the connections, all the vacuum lines, installed and tightened lines etc. Things were hanging off, rubber lines were sitting right on top of the waste-gate/exhaust area. I am also very sorry you missed your event and that was not Akuma's intension's at all. I am sorry you are not happy with AkumaMotorsports we do our best to make sure customer service is job #1 and I take this personally as a failure if you feel you were wronged in any way. We all know as business owners that the customer is always right, but there are two sides to every story. We offered to help with a custom designed kit that would be more robust and tuner friendly. I wish you would have expressed this to me prior to leaving today and not on a forum. However, as business owners we have to be our own worst critic, so I would never sway any customer away from how they feel about a service we provided. I also wish you the best for you and your car I really think it is a great vehicle. Thanks -Dave

Agreed, hence my sincere apology. As the community members can understand I can not get into a forum (he-said/she-said) battle just not good for business.
We are not perfect, I have also reached out the OP privately as well. Thanks, -Dave

Well with your first FI you are like a kid waiting for X-mas.
Nism0 let me tell you a little story about poor customer service..... I dropped my car off to the installer. Told him he had 6 weeks to install this kit. I was leaving town for work. I kept in contact over the 6 week period only thinking of how awesome it would be to have my car finished when I got back in town. After 5 1/2 weeks I got back into cell range, was out for 2 weeks, and made a call to make sure the kit was installed and good to go. Well come to find out the kit was still in the box and the only thing that had been installed was the gauge cluster and the exhaust had been removed. I lost it. I heard every excuse under the sun of why it wasn't finished. I got back in town after almost 7 weeks later. The car still wasn't finished. So I drove up to there shop and started to yell in his face about why it should of been finished. They even offered to rent me a car to make up for their screw up. To make a long story short....They threw away all my stock equipment, well they said they did, lost parts etc. Then when it came time to tune, it was done over the phone since they weren't a UpRev tuner. I paid over $11,000 for this kit and install. That's not even the complete total with all the fixes. There response to all my issues was....cricket....cricket....see where I'm going with this. It sounds like they are and were trying to get everything done and done correctly. Plus they are posting their info on this forum for everyone to see. Trust me jumping shop to shop isn't a good idea. The next shop will say whatever you want to hear to get your cash and could screw up your car. Take a deep breathe and realize FI isn't an overnight install and tune. Sorry for the "story" but just trying let you know it's a lot worse out there.... |
