The only way I would go about converters and this kit is to make it a part of the down pipe, with OEM like exhaust systems. There is room to do it properly, anything else is a ban aid, and I don't like those.

So you WOULD be able to make a down pipe section with cats that would bolt up to the FI cat-back? I'm guessing it wouldn't be too hard for you to do with your existing jigs. I could have some made for pretty cheap but I know the quality of the work would be sub-par (specially the welds). I would much rather buy quality from you.

I could make something to work with the F.I exhaust. It would look something like this (very crude drawing in pain, but you get the idea)

I would recirculate the wastegate after the converters, because this would allow for optimal flow. During normal driving all the exhaust would go through the converters, but when you open it up, a lot of it would bypass them, and go straight out the back. The oxygen sensors can be placed on the other side of the wastegate recirc, so they would only see exhaust gases that went through the converters. So, the converters would only handle the exhaust gas that goes through the turbine when in boost, and you get the best of both worlds.

I like this!! How much would you recon it would cost us for you to make those?

It would depend on the converters used. The options may be limited on the length of the converter. Those that I posted here for the custom 350z build would work, as they are only about 7" long.

Probably a couple of hundred dollars extra in labour plus the cost of the converters.

The Mil Spec ones linked in this post a few pages back are 5.3" long in the 3" pipe variety cause I contacted the vendor.

Those would then work for sure. However I do not know how well they will perform the function of being a converter as I have never had them on a car.

I think they are the ones Fast Intentions offers?

They are. I looked them up after Tony posted his exhaust pics in the Long Tube Header thread.

Chuck33079 has them in his FI Exhaust and they seem to perform pretty well.

Sasha, I'll forward you the email communication I had with Mil Spec for you future reference.

As Evgini Malkin would say, Sasha you weld good!

Same here. My point is I do not have any sensors disabled and no issues with CELs except one brief moment in time. No issues getting through emissions ECU scan.

Little bit off-topic, but who did your tune? I'm a little bit hesitant to take my car to MKC.
