I know this has been discussed before (I think), but is there a benefit to running aftermarket headers with this setup? (Shorty headers, that is.) I know the factory manifolds are well designed, but for maximum efficiency's sake, there could be a benefit, no?

The kit will push well beyond the limits of the stock block, so unless you are running a built motor and trying to squeeze every ounce out of it, I personally don't see the point...

Did you see Sasha's picture of the 3.5 manifolds vs the 3.7 manifolds?

Well yeah, but that's because you aren't "a brick and mortar facility with bona fide business hours, phone number, e-mail address and fax number that has been in business for 26 years."

Restocking fee is called a restocking fee for a reason. Same as overhead expenses... When delays and expenses comes up because of third party issues, that should not be held against the customer.

Yeah, but I'm starting to feel pretty bad for the guys. If you're a business owner, to see a project like that go from so successful to complete disaster has got to be brutal.

I agree completely.

The quoted part was GTM's post where they "indirectly" called out FI and BP while touting the MHI kit as the best thing since sliced bread.

Unfortunately, it is not a good situation for the customers/community. That is the bad part. We all share the same passion for this hobby, and most feel the pain of others when something doesn’t go according to plan. It is a lot like a family.

At the same time, a bit of research on a company and their reputation will go a long way when it comes to making a decision like this, and handing over a large amount of money. I started with this turbo stuff 4 years ago on the 350z forums, and can always tell (potential/new) customers to research what my customers have said in the past, and how I go about things. There is something to be said about history…it will almost always repeat itself.

Mmhmm - that was the first picture I saw when looking into it.

Either way - my thought process behind aftermarket headers is that, I am in search of the MOST efficient way to make power. I've been doing my research and looking around, and I feel like if there is room to be had with the stock manifolds, I would definitely go that route, provided I do end up going BP or something. :tiphat:

Cost and time of doing aftermarket manifolds is not an objection to me. In the long run, I'll get there.

The way I look at it is that there is no point of doing headers on a stock block, unless you are really looking at squeezing every possible HP out of the kit. Since the kit with OEM headers will make power effortlessly, and a lot more than the stock block can handle, there is no reason to go aftermarket. If you are building the block after all, then it is easier to install the headers with the engine out, since you have to pull it for the build anyway.
That is my though process on this.
