GTM Racelogic Traction control Review

So is it the general consensus that it doesn't work or doesn't work very well on AT cars? I hope GTM can chime in on this one.

I dont see why it wouldn't work, there is nothing different about the auto once your moving. As far as launch control goes all you have to do is tap into the brake switch instead of the clutch switch. We all know that you do a brake stand to launch, so in this way the brake acts much the same way as the clutch in the standard when starting off.

I did a bit of googling ( yes Kenchan, googling) and did not find a perfect example of this however. I would put money on the fact that it would work however.

Can this system be installed only by GTM or can it be installed by others?

Its not GTM's system, they are selling you the Racelogic system with their branding on it. I am installing mine on my own from scratch, it is not all that involved, if you can install a stereo you can install this.

Actually I lied, your launch control has nothing to do with a clutch switch. Once it is turned on it shuts itself off when the wheel speed between the back and front tires fall within a certain amount, this means it would work just fine on an automatic. With the no lift shift you have to tap one extra wire at the ECM.

From the manual.

"The system uses a secondary rev limit that removes itself automatically when the rear wheels are within a set percentage slip of the front wheels"

The way we offer the system with our plug and play harness will allow anyone to install the system it in less then 2 mints . the system comes from us flashed, programed and tested. or you can just buy the system without the PNP harness and do the wiring you self.

Here is a link to our instructions

The launch control feature will work on an M/T or A/T car. This functionality does not require any switches to activate it, it is a simple user define setting in the controller.

I installed the traction control system in January and I have not had the time to really test it yet.

Here is my set up

Car is lower on swift springs
3.3 final drive
305/30/19 RE-11 in there Rear

Low boost 600whp 545tq
45 Degrees outside

I decided to mount the unit next to the steering wheel for easy access to the unit for using the launch control and setting the slippage percentage. I have seen pictures of the unit mounted in the glove box, for me that would be a pain because every time you start the car the system reverts back to the wet setting.

In the video I am doing a 5500 rpm launch with the 2 step that comes with the system. Once it get's a little warmer I will take some more footage the Racelogic is a great system.

Mr.Squeeze

Thank you for sharing. Now are you ready for some big things

That does look super easy. So when people mention plugging into the clutch switch for launch control that is already taken care of with this install?

I goofed, there is no clutch switch for launch control. There is a clutch switch for no lift shifts.

No lift as in not taking your foot off the gas during shifting?

How can launch control work on an A/T when their is a torque converter in the way? I think some people are a little confused. But, the traction control feature should be great for when you're actually moving.

Doesn't mater if there is a converter or not.

It just looks at a couple things:

1) Is there throttle input?
2) Are any of the wheels moving?

If the answer to 1 is YES but the answer to two is NO, boom, engage launch control. Hold revs at pre-determined point until those factors change, allow a prescribed amount of drive wheels vs non drive wheels slip factored with a user-determined ratio of desired slip, disengage once drive and non drive wheel speed are within the desired envelope.

It's as simple as that, though I am sure they use other factors for reliability and safety. (Like clutch or brake sensors etc)

Absolutely no reason this won't work on an ATX car.
