The thread started 3/19. That's 10 months. That's pretty close to a year. That doesn't qualify as "making things up". We understand you're a GTM apologist, but a reasonable person would not think that this group buy has been handled in an acceptable manner. We've got a company who misses their shipping date by almost six months, fails to issue requested refunds for up to three months and offers no communication whatsoever. That's a far cry from "GTM's only issue is that they didn't communicate as well as the other vendors so people got nervous and pulled out". You're one of the happy ones. That's great. That doesn't mean you should be belittling the ever-growing number of people who don't agree with you and have problems with the way this is playing out.
Much of the above is accurate and I am in China have had a little too much rice wine for my own good. The fact that I am a douche bag goes without saying....

That being said, people have been 'belittling' those still involved in this group buy for months now so its only fair for some to return the favour.

If people wish to use this 'group buy' thread to air their greivences then fine. But then they shouldn't get their vaginas hurt when people bite back and call them out on it.

It will indeed!

I wish my forefathers had the balls to stand up against the British! Maybe then we could drive and have our steering wheels on the correct side!!!

Then again, my forefathers all came over as convicts so we're probably lucky to have as much as we already do!

This thread is like herpes, it's fun getting into, then you get the herpes and stuck with it for life. And occasionally you get flare-ups that could be quite irritating (or entertaining).

I don't have herpes. But I do have the boost.

Actually, I will just follow the countless threads where GTM doesn't help solve installation and performance problems. You think the customer service is bad now? Wait until they have EVERYONE's money and more than a handful of people have problems.

Budget turbo kit + no production mileage before mass shipment + terrible customer service. You haven't even begun to see "problems" yet.

Yeah, if you think the lack of communication before the product has shipped is bad, try to get an updated map from Sam after you've installed the kit. He still hasn't read the PM I sent him in summer 2012.

sorry but this is just nonsense. you act like this kit is widly different from their garret kit which has been out for years. it's not.

Maybe I missed it, but have we seen a picture of the cast manifolds yet? They aren't in the original post with all the other parts, so I'm assuming they weren't on the prototype car. The other kits from GTM had manifold cracking issues and they are clearly having problems with their foundry.

GTM didn't cut the retail price from the Garret kits in half just by purchasing a tubing bender. The components are cheaper. For example, the intercooler cores are from China.

Additionally, this thread is full of ambiguity on which down pipe / exhaust combinations work.

These are just examples of questions/problems people will have. Customers have tons of questions when it comes to installation and tuning on proven kits. How is GTM going to handle 50+ customers doing installs/tunes when they can't handle processing returns for 3 people...?

Well, they do have an employee there who has so little to do he tried to start up a line of shift knobs so they wouldn't send him home for lack of work. Maybe they can repurpose him to provide updates, process refunds and talk customers through the installation?

If those intercooler cores are crappy and from China, why did they use them on the twin SC kit and as an option on Garret kits for crashbar retention? I've yet to hear of an IC failure on any GTM kit. The boost most run isn't crazy. Manifold cracking, that is definitely something that they wouldn't have known until the kits have been on customer cars for a few years and none have gotten to the point of full blown failure. No reason to make a fuss about new manifolds having delays because it failed the QAQC, I would find that a good thing, especially in the long run.

I can speak from first hand experience about their work and work done. GTM has their name machined and printed all over my kit. Every bolt, fastener, retention piece w/e was dress right dress with another. The logos all pointed straight ahead or up. When something did go wrong, I called Sam at Damn near midnight to tell him my rear lights weren't working. His team fixed it in the morning and sent me away with a gallon of meth for free. When my pulley failed and belt destroyed, I called and again, was picked up and fixed for free. I have not had problems with support after payment and install at all.

I'm just trying to clear up the falsified rants that hold no merit. The guys waiting for refunds, legit PITA, I'd be mad too. Guys complaining about delays, $hit happens, finances changes, priorities change, we do what we have to. The guys complaining about communication, pick up the phone and bother them. That is coming from the mouth of GTM employees. Just call them. It might be the same update, but you know the status. I called before to get the same update on my car a month apart. Did it annoy me? F@ck yeah, but I knew the status. GTM, like all other companies are run by people. They are more willing to work with customers they like than don't like. Same for potential customers.

i don't think working late at night or on the weekends and on your own time means you have little to do. it means you have a passion for what you do.

How many of these particular intercoolers are installed with any significant mileage?

I'm not saying they will fail. But they have had many manifolds crack in the past and we have yet to see what they have done with these that shows it will be any different. This is something I would want to know as a consumer.

Fully understand. My point wasn't that they can't handle a customer well. Especially for a one-off, high dollar prototype. My point was the product line and volume are outgrowing their support resources. This is a time and time again proven method to kill a business. What happens when 50 people call at midnight? How much time did you spend with Sam on the phone? Now multiply that by 50, or heaven forbid 100. There simply aren't enough hours in the day. And this is a single product offering.
