Words of the wise.

DO the math, both kits have the value built in, both fill their roles VERY nicely. Lets just leave it at that.

I am very excited to see the MHI kit bring TT to the masses, about damned time.

I am very excited to see the FI kit try to take the Garett GTM kit head-on. The consumer is always the winner when parity is brought into the equation.

Not exactly double. And though it might not be apple to apples. It's the point of being FI. For a stock block you can only put down so much making them all comparable. The 20G turbos are very much close to the Garrett's in the way they make power.

Just re-evaluated my finances and after buying/paying for the MHI TT and some accessories (excluding oil cooler, radiator and gauges) I figured out that I won't have cash for the install till after the new year.

Looks like I bit off more than could chew for now. The wife is getting some certifications in her field soon so maybe I will be back on schedule if she can land a job...she might be making more than me soon.

Since you don't have to drill the oil pan or tap the head, a DIY is actually an option.

When you are comparing this kit vs. a Garrett kit (either GTM or otherwise), the cost justification is in much more than the power levels.

Go for the DIY and I will gladly lend a hand. No experience in installation, but I have degrees in aerospace and mechanical engineering so I understand the concepts (for the little value that's it worth for installation haha)

The kit is easy to install per say. The manifold and the turbo might be tight but after that its a breeze. Sams instructions are pretty clear. It does require some thinking on your part for small things.

Do you have to mess with the steering column or put a spacer on the motor mount like the Garrett kit? If not, it seems pretty straightforward. You're going to need someone with small hands and a **** ton of extensions, but it should be doable.

No steering knuckle on this kit. It might have to be moved to get better clearance. But no spacer is added. No big deal either way.

Extensions and swivels are your best friend. Some people had to use crows feet on the Garrett kits. Hate those.

Also with GTM's new manifold not sure if you need a spacer on the steering knuckle.

Wow. Sounds like they've gotten it to be a straight bolt-on affair with no major surgery. Very cool.

No steering coupler required with this kit. One of our goals was to make this kit as DIY friendly as possible.

Very cool. This kit sounds like a fun project. The Garrett kit was pretty invasive, so there was no question that I'd farm the install out to a shop that had done several. This one I could handle.

Exactly how I felt. Plus with work and family it would have taken a really long time. My boy did it in about a week n a half and that was also waiting for some parts to arrive.
