GTM window washer after turbo install

Has anyone bought and installed the GTM window washer reservoir kit after TT install because the factory reservoir will not fit ? Was it a clean install ? I live in the rainy NW and use the window washer frequently.

Greedy 02-28-2013 07:49 PM

Ive got one sitting on my workbench but havent installed it yet. Need to route the wiring and hose from the stock location back to the trunk where it will be mounted.

DIGItonium 02-28-2013 08:35 PM

IIRC, lots of mod work to get it to fit. I need to get one, too. It'll be nice to get one fitted in the old intake box area above the charge pipe.

Chuck33079 02-28-2013 08:43 PM

Mine fit fine. The shop that installed mine didn't mention any difficulties getting it to fit.

DIGItonium 02-28-2013 10:57 PM

^ Really? I thought Jason said it required some mods to get it to fit, unless GTM has one for the 370Z by now.

Chuck33079 03-01-2013 05:57 AM

He didn't mention any issues to me.

theDreamer 03-01-2013 07:04 AM

They may have produced a new one, because I remember back in 10 the only one they had was basically a carry over from another setup with some bolts to "try" to fit in the Z.

Chuck33079 03-01-2013 07:16 AM

The only issue I've seen is the fact you have to pop off the plastic cover to check and fill the bottle.

Funny you should ask this, I just dropped mine off to GTM yesterday for a special powder coated windshield washer resevior to match my intake pipes in my TT setup.
I'll keep u posted.

lineyho 03-01-2013 09:35 AM

Hmmmmm... a powder coated unit ? All I saw was a plastic reservour that they had. So I'm assuming what you are talking about is metal powder coated unit. I will need to call them to find out more.

DIGItonium 03-01-2013 09:49 AM

Pictures? I'd love to see the installed reservoir.

This is a new thing that Sam came up with. We are trying it out. I'll post it up.

SharpByCoop 03-03-2013 08:10 PM

I wasn't even aware GTM built a replacement. LOL! I ended up modifying an aluminum water bottle to fit the pump and stuck it in between the intercooler piping.

You can laugh or cry, but it works well. :D

Interested too as my car is in for the TT treatment presently.

Is your car still under the knife? I understand if it is. Sometimes (most of the time) builds take a good while to get going and get on the road.

here is where my new gtm washer bottle was placed
made a V type bracket to hold it

DIGItonium 03-28-2013 08:00 AM

Awesome! Exactly where I imagined it to be with all that extra space. Might have to add that to my wishlist.

Can you be a little more specific about the bracket? I am looking into picking up one of those GTM Washer Bottles, but I need a GOOd solution for installation. If possible, I would like to mirror your installation.

Why is there a clamp on the rubber overflow hose from the radiator? :icon14:

Under the knife, scalpal, machete; yes.
I understand that the resevior is complete, however I have not seen it. Possibly Sam/Mike @ GTM could post up some pictures as I have not been given any.

The car remains at GTM for "tweaking" and the new MHI manifolds when they come in.

It always takes multiple times longer than you Expect for a TT project and this has been no exception.

no kidding?

roplusbee 04-06-2013 06:53 PM

I asked about the washer reservoir in the GTM MHI TT thread and they stated that the unit comes without a bracket. There is a reason that I haven't bought anything from GTM, even if they are the only ones with a given platform-specific solution. I will either deal without the washer reservoir (I have this long) or find another solution.

EDIT: There is more to it, but it just seems that you can't get a straight answer from a lot of people these days. That is why I am working with the companies and providers listed in my sig!

Ron 04-07-2013 09:57 AM

I got GTMs reservoir and installed it on the stock location with a custom bracket. Lots of space in there with the nismo bumper. Not sure how it would fit with other. To fill it up I routed a hose to the stock fill up location. I'll see if I can find pictures.

Ron 04-07-2013 10:11 AM

Here it is:

roplusbee 04-07-2013 11:36 AM

Thanks Ron. I am going to try to find another solution, but if I have to buy it from GTM, I will. If it were up to me, they would never get a dime of my money.

Ron 04-07-2013 12:39 PM

Wait, I feel like I am missing something? Why the hate towards GTM?

Ron 04-07-2013 01:11 PM

Hmm they met the ETA they gave me when I ordered the kit.

I am not hating. I just rather deal with people that I have been dealing with before. They give it to you straight without ambiguous or evasive answers. I am not knocking GTM, I just wouldn't mess with them if I had another option.

Ron 04-07-2013 01:34 PM

Ah I gotcha. Preferences are preference, nothing wrong with that. GTM is not perfect for sure, but my overall experience with them was good.

We are giving you evasive answers over a winshield washer resovoire ??

roplusbee 04-07-2013 02:09 PM

Let's just say this...............I asked about the reservoir and if it came with a bracket. I got an answer after I probed a bit. If there is a bracket that can be used, then it only seems fair to mention it. Like I said in my previous post, if I can get one that meets my need in another way I will. Otherwise I may have to use your product, but I won't if I cannot get everything I need to install it.

Ron 04-07-2013 02:12 PM

FWIW. Any L shaped from bracket the hardware store will work to mount it where I did.

roplusbee 04-07-2013 02:24 PM

I think I am going to pull off the bumper and see what kind of room I have in the fender well. I like the idea of putting it in the bay near where one of the stock airboxes used to be, but your install is clean.

Ron 04-07-2013 02:32 PM

There is plenty of space in there. At least with GTMs piping. I like it bc it is hidden. To fill up I just raise the pwd:jdm cover a little and use a funnel. Don't have to remove a thing. I would hate to have the thing inside the engine bay, it's ugly! Plus it wont fit bc of the BOVs.

Ron 04-07-2013 02:40 PM

Check out the space that's in there. I don't know how the piping is in your kit though.

It's about the same. My intercooler is a little wider, but I have the sponge type filters and they take up less space.

SAM@GTM 04-07-2013 04:07 PM

Here's a pic of what is listed on our website, what you see is what you get . Now with our new MHI kit we will be offering anther kit that will make installing the W.W bottle a five mint job, that system is not listed on our web site yet.
