Is there a difference between the 7AT on a Coupe vs a Roadster?

It may have a different pan or linkage parts if there are differences in the undercarriage due to the need to strengthen a roofless chassis.

Hey guys, just to add onto this thread I was wondering how everyones reliability has been with the stock AT. From reading the thread im getting that gear 1, 5,6, and 7 are pretty much off limits. I'll be using this as my daily driver so im just trying to get an idea at how fragile this transmission really is with the supercharger.

supercharger really wont make enough power to worry about the tranny. from all I've seen just tanny cooler will do the trick for the SC

Don't forget about having UpRev increase the pressure in the tranny. But I think most NA AT guys do that too. I don't know all the details cuz I drive a real car with a clutch pedel

yea sorry forgot that.

I have mine tuned NA like that as well. higher line pressure for faster & harder shifts.

so what I've gathered. Stock 7AT tranny can handle boost from the stillen supercharger. Will it be boosting in all gears or..?

Level 10 upgraded transmission makes it capable of handling up to 800hp so then a twin turbo set up wouldn't hurt.

Cost of the transmission is around 4K.
stillen supercharger is around 7k before install.
twin turbo kit is about 10k before install.

that 4k for the transmission is hefty as ****. Might as well trade in the 7at Z for a 6mt or do a tranny swap if you want boost.

Stillen supercharger gets around 400whp right? not much power for 7k.

I want to boost mine and I'm having that moment of "why did I get the 7at?"

then again... I don't track the car so Bolt on's and a tune would do fine for more spirited driving. Time to buy allllllllllllllll the bolt on's I can

My automatic Z has about 6,000 miles since the kit was installed. As far as the transmission, it seems to be holding up well with the new added HP. Not afraid to run through the gears, in fact have done as much as 153 MPH.

what HP/TQ are you at?

typically SC doesn't put down enough of either to hurt the AT as much as turbos.

You are correct sir that's exactly why I went with the Stillen supercharger kit, wanted reliability for the transmission more than anything. 426WHP 336TQ.

yea pretty much if you want boost but not dropping 4k in a tranny go with a SC kit. but then you also don't get the option to hit high HP numbers. it's all give and take to fit what each person wants.

I do believe people have quotes the stock 7AT to be able to handle 400wtq stock.

Yes, it is a give and take, but it is so much fun to watch a car with or around the same power level but in a stick shift. During the race go to shift into the next gear and during that moment of shift my Z jumps out forward! UpRev did a very good job with tuning the transmission, that is key to this kit there's almost two tunes, engine management and transmission once that is done properly the car will perform.

Automatic beats Stick any day. If you likes to shift then that is cool but don't knock the next man decision if he likes the AT.

What if the 7AT transmission wasn't not the weak point when trying to go the Force Induction Route.....At the end of the day I like my 7AT. Time to beef it up.
