Has anyone tried to get either the internals (of the RE7R01B) that are beefed up or just get the whole tranny out of a wrecked car and put it in the z ?

OOoooh the MSRP on that guy is only $7334.06 and I would bet it is somewhere between the RE7A and the GTM RE7 which is $6773.94 Website pricing.

Damn, so I guess you couldn't just swap the internals from the A to the B ? Either new, or a used one from the junkyard or something.

:shrugs: you could try it but if it goes wrong you'll blow your trans up or wasted all the money on the parts.

Holy hell I want to buy an M56 some day. It runs a 13.3 1/4 with a 2.661 rear gear. Imagine putting a Z diff in one of those

This is just a feeler!
How many of you would be interested in changing your transmission to a 4L80e if I were to be able to make a whole kit? I'd have to tear apart my car for research which would most likely be done over the winter. This is the kind of power a 4L80e can handle: |

but the 4l80e shifts when it feels like it and most of the time that is next week, unless you shift kit and tune it and then it hits every gear like your on a dragstrip, even when your going to the 7-11. And don't even think of road coursing it unless you have full manual control over it.

I too am 7AT, and JUST looking at the options (what very few there are) makes my wallet cower in fear… we just need a Trans to hold 450-500lbft. Im sure that would make most 7AT guys happy, as long as its half the price of a GTM trans. hopefully soon, I have the Mod itch…

the 6l80 is better as far as driveability(with the right controller and tune files), but requires more in the way of electronics to run it since it is newer. basically the 4l80 is an old analog valve and accumulator trans, and the 6l80 is a pwm solenoid style like the re7 so far as electronics go. the 6l80 will not shift as fast and smoothly as the re7 but is going to be more expensive and harder to swap do to electronic reasons.

what i find really funny is that the stock trans is more than half the price of the gtm transmission(the manual is 1/4 the price of the gtm transmission)

Would the 7AT hold up to 400-500wtq with a trans cooler, tune/line pressure increase, and valve body upgrade?
