the 6l80 is better as far as driveability(with the right controller and tune files), but requires more in the way of electronics to run it since it is newer. basically the 4l80 is an old analog valve and accumulator trans, and the 6l80 is a pwm solenoid style like the re7 so far as electronics go. the 6l80 will not shift as fast and smoothly as the re7 but is going to be more expensive and harder to swap do to electronic reasons.
