So is the general consensus that we can't go high RPMs in 6th and 7th gear if boosted even with a good tune, trans cooler, and larger lines? Is it just those 2 or 5th also? Is this the case also with lower power numbers like a stage 1 SC kit? I want to SC, but I don't want to have to be worried about driving carefully or always knowing which gear I am in if I want to hit the gas (in auto mode).

I would imagine being SC is easier on the tranny as the tq builds gradually and doesn't peak nearly as high as turbo's do.

Yeah, but everyone is still saying to not gas it too hard in the higher gears even with SC. I'm just trying to get a feel for how this might impact my driving. Is 5th gear considered off-limits too? What is considered stepping on it hard? 4k, 5k+ or does it mean not to romp on it too quickly in those gears, but high RPM is okay if it's pressed gradually? It's a big investment so i just want to make sure I have all the facts. I do not want to have to be driving cautiously and always knowing my gear/RPM status all the time.

The flooring in high gears is just that,, Dont be cruising 5th 6th etc and jam it. But really if your WOT from 3rd-4? and shifting into 6th/7th your doing +140 an need to slow down anyway LOL

Please read the previous pages in the thread as it answers all your questions. If you want to push it always have it in Manual Mode then and never Smash on it in 1st gear, and stay out of the High Gears 5,6,7 (Never Boost in those gear) just roll into them from the prior gears. |

Sorry, but I am not sure what you mean by not boosting in 5,6,7. In a SC kit, I would always be boosted right? I am usually in auto mode so if I am cruising in 6th, 7th on the freeway and give it moderate gas (not flooring it, but a firm press and the RPMs go to like 5k, is that okay? I usually don't need to floor it or drop to 4th to pass. I'll press the gas firmly and it'll downshift on its own or I will drop to 5th and hit it a bit harder, but still not redlining it. The only time I come close to redlining is probably if I wan to accelerate aggressively and double drop down to 4th and hit the gas hard. Would I be safe with this driving style?

Yes should should be fine. I know I had no tranny issues. But I was alsomst never in 6th or 7th, Still now I really dont use those on the HYW. I always use manaul mode. Since the motor went in the car has never seen D..

Guys, why the same 7AT transmission does not have issues on driving hard on 6,7 gears in M56 or FX50?
And I don't understand why we can not floor on 5,6,7 gear in D mode. Transmission will down to 3 or 4 gear. |

It will downshift, but if you floor it hard and it's not tuned/upgraded to downshift quickly, the RPMs will jump up pretty high before the downshift occurs which is where the risk is.

Is safe to accelerate in D mode on 5,6,7 gears not harder as on stock car? There still is not clear for me (and for others to) if we can accelerate on 5,6,7 gears but not hard or not.
Sometimes I drive on highways more then 200 km/h (125 mph) and I would like to accelerate from 0 to maximum speed i D (or DS) mode with transmission changing gears at 4-5k. |

Your best bet is to call GTM with your specific questions. I can only relay what I have heard from them and others sicne I do not have one installed, just trying to gather info to make a good decision on whether to do it or not.

Link for transmission and which car(s) from post 1 have what.
7-speed AT for medium and large RWD vehicles | JATCO Ltd The M56 does have the same 7AT, it is the Nissan Fuga in Japan. The EX comes with the same transmission and the FX says it has a 7AT but still trying to find which version. The car was recently upgraded from the 5 to the 7AT but it just says "standard" transmission.
