For those looking for a real bulletproof transmission option. RJM released their Transmission package as well as upgrade path for the 7at. Below is what they have it priced at:

Triple disk Carbon clutch Torque Converter (Upgraded disk, twin spring upgrade, reinforced tabs and etc...) - $1200 retail ($300 core charge)

Billet Flexplate (Fast Intentions) - $1000

Fully Rebuilt Transmission - $4500 ($1200 core charge)

The full build should net you $6700

So far they have tested this trans on several cars from the whipple supercharged cars with instant torque on demand and twin turbo setups. Most cars are running around 550-600ftlbs to the wheels and the temps on the trans is not over 200* when paired with a trans cooler. They just replaced a level 10 setup that failed on a AAM TT customer car and the new transmission is insanely good compared to the failed Level 10! In fact they are running nearly 100whp more than the level 10 that gave out.

Message RJM directly. Fast Intentions also has them in stock.

Would a full rebuild be recommended on a 7AT with 75k on it? Also would the full rebuild have larger /stronger clutches in the higher gears? By the time my build is done we may plan on getting head work done if not filling building the motor to see what the SOHO stage 2 kit is capable of. Seeing as one just hit 615WTQ on 93 in second guessing going cheapish on it and not fully building it from the off. I messaged RJM the other day and they replied but told me they were driving so they would get back to me so I'll hit them up tomorrow lol. Thanks

RJM isn't the only one doing transmission.

IPT https://www.importperformancetrans.com/ also do rebuild. I had Level 10 transmission and I blew it 3 times. Did my research and found IPT and he rebuild my trans. I've been beating on it whole summer since July and one full track day and still holding up well. Level 10 couldn't last a month with me. Even on 2nd week, I was having some flaring between shifting, mainly 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th.

*Just a kind reminder* As a user, I'd highly suggest doing extensive research before going this route (think carefully for the so-called 7AT performance rebuilds of our Zs). PM me if you want to know my story.

I see your siggy says you ran 584whp. How much tq were you making? I've put over 4k miles on my stock 7at without issue @ 450whp/450wtq. If you stay at or below 450wtq and make sure you don't forget to downshift to 4 before giving it beans on the highway, you should be fine. Staying out of peak tq range in gears 5-7 is important. My single turbo makes peak tq around 4k rpm, so as long as I remember to downshift to 4 on the highway before a pull, I'm consistently ahead of my tq curve redline shifting into 5th gear. It's deciding to gun it from cruising speed/rpm in 5th 6th or 7th that leads to slipping.

451wtq at about 5500rpm. Have broken three transmissions so far (one is a performance rebuild). I drive my Z in AT mode for most of the time. I'm currently testing another one of performance rebuild. Both performance rebuilds are from reputed shops in the United States.

I stay in manual mode so I can control where the rpms are at, and what gear I'm in at all times. The 7at in auto mode gear hunts way too much for 450wtq

And I have trans oil cooler. I can understand the stock trans is incapable of holding up. What makes me feel solely disappointed are those so-called performance rebuilds. **Don't go/trust performance rebuilds anyway. You can go find the tread I posted recently about my user/customer experiences with IPT.

Looks like Jake's Performance has an adapter for the 4L80e

My advice is to think it carefully for those performance rebuilds. For boosted big-power Z, the most reliable way is to have a manual Z imo if you don't have a preference for autotransmission.
