Going to try the windscreen trick using a sponge, not to mention the enclosed case.

Messing around with my dad's zr1 today...give me my z any day.

Yep, get the mic adapter from GoPro, and a 6ft wire extension for the mic. So you can put the mic where you want it. Slice a hole in a 4" thick piece of foam. Put the mic in it. You're good to go.

I hate the idea of a mic, since I just love to slap it on the hoof and pop it off, any more than that and it becomes a scene, haha. Fixing to take the car out in a few minutes here, will try some ideas here.

Really, where is the plug in for that, there are no mic ports on the 3+ that I have seen? All I can see are the HDMI and USB for charging...unless I'm just blind LOL.
