What Street/track tires do you recommend Tony? Something with reasonable price? I don't wanna have to sell my second kidney for tires lol. Sent from my SGH-M919

There is no such thing as something good at a reasonable price when it comes to tires. You get what you pay for! I recommend going with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports or Toyo r888's. For me personally I am going with the PSS. I like the tread design of the r888 better but the performance of the PSS all day long. At the end of the day performance is the driving factor.

Edit: In the event that you would Drag race (which I know that is not your thing), go with a set of MT ET Street Radials.

Thanks, Tony

What is it with these PSS get so much talk? How is a tire with a treadwear rating of 300 so good?

I just had a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports installed on my car last month. The grip on those tires is simply amazing. If I mash the accelerator from a standstill, they just hook up and go. No tire slippage, no flashing traction control light. The car now has a tighter turn radius, and I can take turns at higher speeds, all without tire slippage. They also have a much smoother ride than the stock Bridgestone Potenzas that they replaced. Sure, they cost a pretty penny, but they are loads of fun. Highly recommended.

Guess I'm going to have to try them. I'm just so in love with AD08's. But the PSS are priced just as good as any other tire.

Tread wear can ONLY be compared inside a tire manufacturer.

PSS's are great STREET tires because there is not warm up, they grip like all hell, they are quiet, they are light, and have/give great ride quality.

On the track... Not so much. They can't take heat like RE-11s/RS3s/NT01s, and their sidewalks aren't as stiff as you'd like on a track really.

Chris,

The first time I got to really push them to the limit was behind the wheel of Sharif's GT-R through Tail of the Dragon. Yes the car was jaw dropping amazing across the board, but the way the tires took the road put it over the top for me. We also have them on Blake's TT 370Z and for the amount of torque and power we are throwing to the ground, they hold it very well. Honestly, having them is like putting upgraded suspension on the car all over again.

I am currently switching my garbage stock run flats out on the GT-R to 335 in the rear and 285 in the front. Super excited to get the car on the track with these tires.

Thanks, Tony

You can always add them down the road. Budget right now is not the end all be all. Yes you are correct, you wanted the best and that is why your car is in our shop!

Our cars are like companions to us. Non car people will never understand it. It is the passion that drives us to do what we do. It is the thrill of the build and the vision to see the finished product that drives us to do what we do. The end result is a reflection of the time, money, sweat, blood and tears that we have put in to our project. We get out of it what we put in to it. Budgets are rarely held intact and more times than not we go over them. Mainly to give our car the extra little bit it needs to make it perfect. When you are driving down the road enjoying your finished build with that ear to ear grin, it suddenly hits you that it was all worth it and the money can always be made again.

Long story short. Do it right the first time and spend the money once on the right parts. Do not short change yourself or your build. If it takes a little longer to complete it, so be it but settle for nothing but the best. This is at least how I personally feel about my own build. I just don't know any other way. It is clearly evident in the products we produce for our customers. Maybe not the most affordable but only the best for our cars and for our customers!

Thanks, Tony

Everyone I have talked to says they work "almost as good" as the Pilot Cup's but at a way lower price and much better tread wear rating.

R888 have been doing a great job holding the power down and are surprisingly good in the wet.

I am using RE-11 and they are doing their job keeping the beast on line. 1st gear is no joke though.

My next tires will be AD08

I need a bigger tire than the 305's for my new wheels unfortunately, right now im currently looking at a 325/30 PSS or p-zero trufeo r. I enjoy putting my car through its paces and loooove my re11's and so for that matter im curious about how good the PSS is for that and am leaning more toward the Trufeo R. we will see tho
