That is just pure awesome! The F.I. team just keeps pushing the envelope and making the rest of the community play catchup. Congrats to Fast Intentions, the car's owner, and all of the 7AT guys out there.

Now I just need to get back to the states and get back on the ball. I have a lot of work to do, lol!

gbrettin 03-17-2015 10:12 AM

10.91 is an awesome benchmark for this platform! You guys could shave a little more off the time but I doubt Cy wants you beating on his car all day.

Big thanks to team Fast Intentions for developing the 7AT improvements and sharing the testing results!

gouda-buddh 03-17-2015 10:18 AM

Awesome JOB!!

reldas 03-17-2015 10:46 AM

More importantly I forgot to tell you... Congrats! on such an awesome accomplishment in a platform most "boost" companies would really not promote. Your commitment and faith on the 7AT gained the 370Z community a Record!

Great work guys!!!

Leroydsouza 03-22-2015 01:17 AM

The longer it takes for me to go FI, The better its getting.
I am scared to pull the trigger today, Incase you get better tomorrow.

I bought the z because i see the monster it could be. You guys make that come true.
Congrats Fast Intentions. Now be nice and send me my order faster, I can patiently wait for the TT kit once i order ( i am lying, I cannot wait. Waiting sucks.)

If i had the money today, I would have sent you the money for TT already.
I have always stayed away from loans, But **** you fast intentions for making me keep re thinking that decision everyday. Staying strong, Will buy in cash.

Is this an early episode of mythbusters?

Jamie and Adam peering at the underside of a car on the lift.

Myth - it's impossible to double the horsepower of a modern combustion engine without a catastrophic failure.

Apparently not if you add a FI TT kit to a VQ37HR

Myth - BUSTED!

I am down with Forsberg, but they barely got started on the Z. Was that the Z he drove in the Clarion commercial?

djtodd 03-26-2015 10:23 PM

Yep. It was originally a 7at as well

I'm not trying to rock the boat and I'm probably gonna get flamed for asking, but I have read all the crap about Sam at GTM (not trying to throw names around but i think we all know about it) and the people that got caught in the mess. I'm planning on grabbing a 370 this fall and probably won't turbo it until next year, so I'm wondering if these kits will be available for purchase next year as well because I am absolutely in love with the results and how advanced this kit is from the v bands and the T304 cast manifolds to the kits overall potential and how tucked everything is. Tony and the crew at FI certainly know what they are doing and I hope for the absolute best in the growth of the company. It seems like these guys know what they are doing and have the skills to do it. I'm from Minnesota and I plan to install the kit myself so I'm glad to hear that FI is putting in some serious hours writing the manual.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. With the g37 guys coming and the 7at just about handled, I think they'll be producing them for some time.

People don't realize, strap a turbo to the 370z and its a monster. Godzilla's lil brother can play rough when it wants to lol

Good to know, thanks for the reply dj.
I think I'm going to do some research on these turbos. It would be awesome to see that the compressors are billet with extended fins, although I'm not sure if that's necessary.

For nearly half the cost too lol

They are, depending on which you get. The gtx is billet, as is the upgraded hta wheel. The hta is a 68mm, 14 bladed wheel with 7 primary and 7 secondary, and is a significant upgrade.

Who had the record before FI took it back?

phunk 03-30-2015 09:01 PM

Me. I still have the trap speed and stock engine power record .. so I am not too sad about getting knocked off by an autopilot :)

But next time they will go a lot quicker/faster, so I have to get back out there soon.

2SOONJR 03-30-2015 09:07 PM

The hta does have a lot of positive feedback on the internet. Are the other aspects of the turbo, i.e. cooling, essentially the same? I do like the way the turbine is connected to the manifold on these kits with a circular connection rather than the common rectangle. I think that's grade A ingenuity that will most likely catch on in the performance culture.

Havent driven it since the clutch let go at the drag strip. Been using it for building some new parts on. But I should be putting it back together in the next month or two I believe, so its time to start clutch shopping.

2SOONJR 03-30-2015 09:15 PM

Definitely! How long did you have it TT'd before the clutch let go at the strip? Got an idea about how many runs?

Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk

I'm gonna guess from the date on the video you had about 45k and almost 4 years with kit installed?

The car was turbocharged for well over 3 years, and maybe around 45,000 miles or so. It had 61,000 miles on it at the track. The clutch was installed at the same time.

The clutch lasted about 6-7 runs I believe, but I only began to really slip it and start to get the 60' down the last few passes. Those clutches are not meant for drag racing (heavy slipping), so it was no surprise. It had been used for a couple passes at the track the year before, but it was on street tires and didnt have any grip to warrant hard use of the clutch.

2SOONJR 03-30-2015 09:29 PM

Oh yeah aren't you the power shifter that was gonna make some transmission and diff supports? That's pretty good for a street clutch plus all those miles, really gives a positive outlook for 370 owners. It was a OS giken right?

Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk

phunk 03-30-2015 09:36 PM

OSG Twin, correct. Yes I powershifted it on the regular, pretty much any time I was full throttle. If you shift quickly, thats not really bad for the clutch so long as its not slipping. I dont think it needs any trans supports, but the differential you will want to upgrade the mounts and I think F.I. will recommend the same thing.
