Just like to say thank you for answering my questions all day Blake. I can't afford the TT kit for a while but you put me on the right path to having my car ready for it when I can in the future. Thanks for being awesome.

Blake when can I drop off my car? LOL :)

Great seeing the car at the show and meeting the F.I. crew. Car was extremely impressive, Blake. Can't wait to ship mine for a makeover. :driving:

Wanted to let ya'll know I had initially been eying the GTM kit, but after seeing this car in person (I was actually at Forged getting a tune when it rolled up and my jaw fell off, so does that make me and my buddy who was also there the first members of the public to see this beauty?? ) and meeting with someone (I cannot remember the name) at Fontana and having a nice long conversation about, I'm sold on it.
I can also vouch that, as least while we were at Forged, the car was treated with kid gloves. I wanted very much for them to get on it and rev it so I could hear it, but they feathered it putting it into place and every time they moved it, they treated your car with the respect such a beautiful work deserves...and it was beautiful. While I'm not going to let Forged install it after they quoted me at $8 grand for labor, the gearheads 'round these parts and I will pull the engine and do it ourselves...because I've decided I'm going to get this kit in the next few months. I only have one complaint, and that's that it is as quiet as it is. I don't like monster loud, but I also like a little music with the windows down. I also like to hear BOVs, and this kit's is whisper quiet, at least every time I heard it. I can get over that though, because the numbers and build quality do not lie. Much respect, from a future customer. Darth Z is about to add some Force to the dark side. |
8K for labor. That's 72 hours at $110/ hr. OH, They have to pay for that GTR.
|
Yeah, no thanks on that bill. They can tune it, or Z1 if Jon ever decides to call me like he says he will...but that install bill ain't happenin'.

Something is not right. There has to be more to then that. Usually it's 25 hrs to pull and reinstall
|
I paid for 35 or 36 hours with a GTM kit, clutch and flywheel, gauges, springs+alignment, radiator and AC recharge, boost controller, FI exhaust and some other things. 72 hours is flat-out robbery.

That's what Sharif quoted me while I was there getting my NA tune and discussing my plans with him, even after acknowledging that it was basically bolt-on and the cleanest kit available. I agree that it doesn't sound right, and there's no way in Huck I'm going to essentially pay for another kit to let someone else install it. If someone else in the GA area can quote me a much better deal I'll reconsider letting a professional do it; otherwise, it's being done here and we'll road-trip for the tune...my buddy is taking the same financial plan I'm on, only he's going the single turbo route. The plan is to install and road trip to dyno tune together with the help of other guys in the club with experience in engine building/turbo builds...though admittedly they're all 300s.
I'd feel better letting a reputable shop do it, but not at that price of nearly another kit. |
He prolly thinks its for a GTR. The price quotes I've heard from that place is unheard of. I can't believe people actually pay that.
|
I assure you he knows it's for a 370...he was dyno tuning my car as we discussed it.

How long until all these AWESOME comments get cleaned up?
|
My plan is to pay for the kit and get with FI on a time frame they can install it. Then i'll drive out there and make a road trip of it. While they install/tune etc my baby i'll go to the beach and work on finding a different kind of baby. Win/Win for everybody. That and it gives me the peace of mind that the people who made the kit are installing and tuning it on my car.
