Any near future plans for us X guys :tiphat:

Great question! We are starting with the G37 Coupe 2WD 6MT & 7AT. We are confident that a majority of our existing kit will fit with no issues. Once we are dialed in on this version, we will explore the option for the AWD version. It may get a little crowded in there with the AWD axles stubs and intercooler tubing.

One week!

My wife is from the Philippines. For over a year I went to see her every three months. Lately she's been saying, "It's just three weeks...two weeks...one week. Not like it is three months." I've had to be careful not to respond that the wait of a week until I get my car is harder than the three months waiting to see her again! >.>

What!? Don't judge me! ;)

No chick can take me for a ride like my car can, at least not one I have met yet.

Better tread lightly with that statement! Hope she never jumps on the forum.

One question Tony, would it fit RHD?

Right Hand Drive

JDubya 07-27-2014 05:16 PM

From the Q&A:

Quote:

Question: Will this kit fit the RHD (right hand drive) model?

Answer: I am not certain but I would venture to say no it will not fit. Until I have a RHD car in our shop to do a test fit I will not know. Anyone who wants to send one our way, just shoot me an email.

Maybe he got ahold of a RHD and this answer changed. /shrug

Running any specials on a full kit shipped to 07866

G37sHKS 07-29-2014 11:22 AM

Sorry if I missed it but is there any update regarding the automatic upgrades?

Arrvaxx 07-29-2014 11:27 PM

How do you test a new twin turbo build? I test it by driving from LA to Las Vegas via the Mojave desert. :D

"Complete" package plus...

FAST 500 fuel system which I think replaces the one listed on the kit sheet.

Oil cooler.

Whiteline rear diff bushings.

Also had them install Specialty Zs 6 puck clutch and flywheel. Exhaust is their test pipes and 2.5" non-red cat back with 100 cell cat inserts.

How long are you in Vegas? You know you can get pump 100 octane at certain Rebel Stations there!

Awesome! I was wondering about the "Complete" kit.

Arrvaxx's turbo 'break in' procedure.

"DAY" 1
- Give your car to Tony at Fast Intentions to drive for 300 miles in southern California. I'm sure he babied it...like his GT-R.

Day 2
- Drive 90 miles from Simi Valley, CA to Fontana, CA in 98 degree weather.
- Drive over the hills between Fontana and the Mojave desert in said temps adding stop and crawl traffic the entire climb.
- Drive through the Mojave on Interstate 15 to Las Vegas in 110 degree weather with the AC cranked.

Day 3
- Drive from Las Vegas to southern Utah (Zion) in 105 degree weather with said AC keeping you alive.

Day 4 and 5
- Drive from Zion to Bryce Canyon to Escalante to Arches National Parks in 100 degree temps and canyon roads (holy elevation changes and switchbacks Batman).

Day 6
- Drive from southern Utah over the Rockies to Denver is comfortable 80-90 degree weather...adding intense rain.

Day 7.
- Drive from Denver to Minneapolis non-stop in perfect weather averaging 83.2 mph over the 12 hours.

...Car never hesitated. Great job guys. Thanks!

A few things I learned on the trip:

1. Stock tires are ill-equipped for this kind of horse power. There is no putting down the pedal as you're turning towards an on-ramp. Wait until you're going straight and ideally have just shifted in to third. Even then the tires can get loose on you.

2. Very glad I upgraded to a Specialty Z 6 puck clutch. It takes some getting used to but I would be very concerned about shifting with the stock under hard acceleration.

3. I'm kinda scared to put 100 octane in it. With 91 the car is a monster and that monster is hungry!

4. Glad I went with Whiteline rear diff bushings. Tony's right...no wheel hop.

5. Remember that when you throw down the accelerator to pass you will be going a LOT faster than you did pre-turbo!

6. Worth every penny.

...Now, let's see if you can spot the turbo or intercooling duct work! Haha. Nope, those are the intakes. It is really amazing how hidden it all is.

No cats...test pipes. Well, I have 100 cell inserts but those are after the test pipes.

It sounds amazing...just very very loud! Thinking seriously about 12" resonators. I'll do some recording in the morning.

Nice write up. You are an animal my man! Glad to see you made it home and early I noticed. I am also pleased to hear the mistress is doing great and she performed as advertised. You my friend have helped us accomplish what we set out to do over 2 years ago.

"Have a customer with our kit drive across the country and have the car perform as we intended it to." No rubbing, no leaking, no shuttering, no overheating, no heat soaking, etc, etc, etc... Thank you again for entrusting us to do our thing and deliver our product to yet what seems, another satisfied customer!

When you get settled in and back in the groove, give me a ring. Let's catch up and recant your 2,000+ mile journey home.

Thank you.

Details will come with the dyno charts but as a teaser, we eclipsed 600 RWH on 100 octane today.

Tony convince Sebastian to come to the midwest, St Louis maybe, soon and I'll give you your first 93 with the FAST 500! More than happy to drive down there and make it happen.

mfeinst 08-12-2014 10:22 AM

Hi all,

I have been seriously MIA on the forums lately because life, guys. You know how it is :P

Anyway, here is a mini review for you all. I received my FI car back from Tony in March, and I have since put around 8,000 miles on the kit. At around 9 psi, I'm putting down 500whp and 450 lb/ft on 93 octane pump gas. W/o boost controller at around 6 psi, the output is noticeably less but still far more potent than stock (obviously haha). I would guess around 380whp if my butt dyno is calibrated correctly. ANYWAY.....

On to the meat. This car is now certified monster status. VWs and Hondas hate me even more now and decide to release multiple beehives worth of noise upon sighting my Z. Do not, I repeat, do NOT engage. The turbos tend to spool up starting at 2500 rpm and really hit stride by 3k. There is ZERO drop off of power all the way to redline, which is extremely impressive. Very smooth power band. Whiteline diff bushings + 305mm Pilot Super Sports = Grip. I LOVE driving this thing, except for a few gripes, which I will address now.

Now, let's address something that almost nobody (probably) cares about who has put FI on their Z: gas mileage. I did a raw number tank-to-tank calculation, so this IS accurate. On 6psi (low boost), with about half city driving and half highway driving, I got a combined 19.274 MPG, with 366.212 miles to a tank. This calculation assumes a 19 gallon tank, even though most fills won't be that large due to the "emergency" reserves, which are roughly 1 gallon of fuel. For those of you who don't know, the onboard fuel computer is completely inaccurate once you swap out the injectors, which is part of any turbo upgrade due to the increased fuel flow necessary. My Z's computer said I would get 479 miles to the tank, and let's just say that number starts dropping real fast lol. I can safely say that consumption increases on 9psi compared to 6. I would guess around 17 MPG, but that number will drop very rapidly if you stay in boost a lot, which is the whole point hahaha.

Now, that all being said, I have a feeling the car is running slightly rich. Any time after letting the throttle off a boosted run, the smell of fuel quickly fills air when the windows are down, and my rear bumper repeatedly gets blackened (which admittedly looks kind of badass on red). AFR seems to hover around 10.5:1 under boost, which is safe (if not too much so), but the car has all of the symptoms of running rich: gas mileage drop, fuel smell, black rear bumper. I can't say I blame Seb for tuning it like this due to the unknowns that can appear from CA to PA. Completely different climates.

Along those lines, the F.I. exhaust is fantastic..... when the climate is right. I'm running 3" downpipes to a 2.5" CF exhaust with 100 cell HFCs. If humidity is low, the exhaust sounds godly. Just incredible. THIS is what it should sound like, and since CA weather is generally less humid year-round, I am going to assume that this exhaust was tuned for such a climate, hence it's legendary status. Once the humidity kicks in, however, the drone can be an annoyance. Above 3K it's totally fine, but 2K-3K is the killer. I was browsing threads and noticed that a member had a Helmholtz resonator fitted to his exhaust, which wasn't FI but a similar design. It eliminated the drone issue, and I have been exploring whether or not this is a viable option. Any input from Tony would be very appreciated.

No issues with holding boost using the Apex'i AVC-R controller, which I don't think anybody else has used yet on the 370z, so kudos to Seb at Specialty Z for dialing this in very well. Great controller.

So far, after 8K miles, I give this kit high marks. Very fun to drive, no major issues, and it puts a smile on my face every time. :)

Well done, Tony and the F.I. crew (and Seb). Well done.

PS Tony, I got your message and will try to catch you later today. Cheers!

Ninja Edit: Forgot Pics! I also have one with my gf but she'd probably cut my head off if I posted it lol.

Haha, yeah hes the guy on 93! I even forgot about him, glad to hear you are enjoying it! Yeah, it is a pretty severe climate change for seb to account for, us California guys dont deal with 90% of the poopy weather you guys have to put up with.

Granted, his e85 tune on my car is spot on, the e85 scent with no cats is present on decel, but only because you can actually smell it catching up to you as you come to a stop, haha, no smoke, no fuss!

Excited to hear about the AT work. Trust me my friend, it is going to be absolutely worth it. I am envious already....having the TT and a manual means I spend more time shifting than accelerating on the street, WTB no-lift-shift without all the gunky traction control baggage! Or just an AT!

Good stuff! now I'm worried about the weather here in dallas (humid 100+) lol. I wonder if the fuel will make a difference since I'm thinking about going e85. It's just a shame if I don't go e85 cuz there's a e85 station on every block here lol.

Arrvaxx 08-12-2014 03:22 PM

You're seeing poor gas mileage? I was getting 31 on the highway from LA to Minnesota which is crazy. I don't ever remember getting 31...even down hill...before.

Great write up. I have the richies too but that is the tune not the turbos. Planning on seeing Sebastian next time he's in the midwest to make a minor adjustment to the fuel map.

Eclipz 08-12-2014 09:14 PM

FI seems to be king of all twin turbo kits for the Z
