Well, I didn't anticipate my first post spawning such reactions lol.

Let me be clear, I'd go back to them again for a tune, and they were all very personable. They even bought my buddy and I free lunch when the tuning took longer than anticipated because we'd driven overnight, hadn't slept in over 24 hours, and hadn't eaten in perhaps half that time either.

It's the pricing of the other work that's at issue here and probably best left for another thread.

Anyway, back on topic: TT kit is awesome; I wantz it and will own one, and wanted to make you aware of my impressions.

I think it's very useful info! If I ever get this kit I know who NOT to take it to:tiphat:

Just wanted to clear a few things up, I know Forged has not ironed out how many hours our kit will take to install, and obviously until they have hands on experience they will not be able to give an accurate quote. I would give Sharif a call because it sounds like there is definitely some misunderstanding going on.. Just wanted to throw this out there.
I know there will be a lot more info once we get everything completely ironed out and we will definitely keep the community posted.

I can also vouch that, as least while we were at Forged, the car was treated with kid gloves. I wanted very much for them to get on it and rev it so I could hear it, but they feathered it putting it into place and every time they moved it, they treated your car with the respect such a beautiful work deserves...and it was beautiful.

While I'm not going to let Forged install it after they quoted me at $8 grand for labor, the gearheads 'round these parts and I will pull the engine and do it ourselves...because I've decided I'm going to get this kit in the next few months.

I only have one complaint, and that's that it is as quiet as it is. I don't like monster loud, but I also like a little music with the windows down. I also like to hear BOVs, and this kit's is whisper quiet, at least every time I heard it.

I can get over that though, because the numbers and build quality do not lie.

Much respect, from a future customer. Darth Z is about to add some Force to the dark side.

Remember that the prototype car is still utilizing our 2.5" exhaust. The 3" system will be louder! On the BOV side of things.. you can hear them with the windows up or down. Especially rolling into the throttle at lower RPM's and building only 1-2PSI. My girlfriend took a few videos I will see how they came out and try and get them posted up on here! If you have any questions in between now, and when you are ready to move forward please do not hesitate to call me directly!

Thank you, Blake

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Blake. I actually posted this before I saw ya'lls new exhaust thread, and that sounds much, much better and more to my liking :driving:

As to this...please do keep updated...because I'd much rather hear from ya'll what your estimated completion time would be, so that I can start crunching what I figure to be a worthy number if I'm paying someone

Get your car to Specialty Z and let Seb and LJ do the work. Fair price + nothing will blow up. It's a good deal, that's what I would/will do at some point.

Pheonix 06-04-2013 03:53 PM

Where are they located? If it's not near TN, I'd require convincing to road-trip or a very decent trailer price.

I have the F.I 3 inch exhaust on my car with 3 inch down pipes and it is not louder than the 2.5 I sold.

.

Thanks for the kind words about our shop. It was very ironic that you all witnessed the Fast Intentions 370Z roll off the transporter...perfect timing. :)

With regards to the labor estimate, I can only imagine that something got lost in translation perhaps due to lack of sleep on my part and maybe yours too..haha..but install of the Fast Intentions Twin Turbo Kit is tentatively in the 25 hr range. This works out to about $2700, rather than the $8000 mentioned in your post. I just wanted to correct that for others that are reading through the thread.

It was a real pleasure having you in the shop, and spending time for us. We hope to see you very soon. :)

Pheonix 06-08-2013 01:16 PM

Ah hell, that's much more manageable than; thanks Sharif! I know all of us were working on fumes so it's entirely possible and probable. We had a great time too, minus the waiting, which was forgivable and understandable given the situation. Expect to hear more from me then in the coming months :)

I can answer this for you.

Right now we have 3-4 installs lined up. We need to be the first to install our production kits to ensure there are zero issues. We are confident that everything will fit perfect however in the unlikely event we do have an issue, we want to be the ones to find it!

After these initial installs are complete, SpecialtyZ will be our California "Certified" installer.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to call us directly.

Thank you, Tony

Ha ha, sorry for the mix up. I was told 12 psi from a few people at the airstrip. You would know best though after all it is your car! Regardless, your car look sand ran great. Best part is that sick exhaust system you have...:woot:

Thanks, Tony

in all fairness, a Z is a lot lighter than a G which is probably where a lot of the difference is made, still great cars :)

F.I. Inc. 06-26-2013 02:04 AM

Update,

We are at what we call "The Limbo Stage." This is the time in between the initial testing and the production kits being installed and/or shipped. Alot of downtime here on the forum and all seems calm. I can assure you we are working away getting everything perfect for our customers.

Many key components for our TT Kit are complete, in the shop and ready for installation and shipment. Other components are currently in production.

We have decided to raise the bar even higher than the prototype. (No the price is not going up.) The oil relocation adapter plate along with oil line fitting plate on the side of the engine block were off the shelf Moroso parts used for the prototype. Some of the other oil/water fittings were custom fabricated as one off pieces by us in house for the prototype. These were all phenomenal parts however they are not time or cost effective for production.

So in 3D CAD Solidworks we have designed our own application specific parts for the 370Z. This is the same process as how our exhaust manifolds were designed. Manufactured on a CNC Mill all of the following parts are comprised of "Billet Aluminum."

-Oil line adapter (side block mounted)
-Oil filter relocation adapter
-Coolant fittings
-Turbocharger oil drain fittings (O Ring) to eliminate the gasket.

In addition all of our silicone couplers are 4 ply black/black custom with our new logo stamped on them. All intercoolers will be pressure tested in the fabrication process. This will ensure a consistent quality product either installed or shipped. All of our turbochargers weather it be the Garrett GT28RS or GTX-2867R will be clocked and locked down to their installed rotation prior to boxing and shipment. This will ensure the installer has to spend less time figuring things out during the installation. We are taking everything into account to ensure the installer has the smoothest install possible.

The production exhaust manifold process is coming along quite nice. We have enlisted the services of a local machinist with over 35 years experience in his field. He told us the design we brought him is the most elaborate and complex exhaust manifold he as ever seen. Needless to say we brought him a challenge. Nothing is impossible if you enlist the right people. The tooling for the exhaust manifolds is nearly complete. We are also working with a local foundry state side to cast the exhaust manifolds. I am very proud to say we are manufacturing all of our custom parts here is the USA! Aside of the obvious right reason to do that, manufacturing our turbo parts locally is the only way to ensure the highest and consistent quality. Sure it comes at a price, but why settle for less!

Over the next 5 weeks we plan to do the first 2-3 installations in house. During that time we will write the installation manual step by step for our TT Kit. From that point forward we should be ready to start shipping out orders. Currently there are 11 kits pre ordered. We are producing all of the components for the first 25 kits. For once Fast Intentions may actually have something in stock. :rofl2: Once we have 18 kits sold we will start producing parts for the next 25 kits. This gives us a cushion of 7 kits to work with in stock. Our goal is to have it on the shelf ready for you when the order is placed.

To close,
We currently are working with 3 shops to be recognized as our "Certified Installers." What this means is either myself or Dan will fly out to their location and personally train their technicians on the first install. In addition their will be special tooling created by us to minimize the installation time. All certified installers will have these tools. We hope this is a big selling point for the potential buyer knowing they will have their kit installed by a properly trained technician at a fair price. We want to have 7-10 certified shops in strategic places throughout the country. This way every customer is in reasonable driving distance from a certified installer. The shops so far are,

SpecialtyZ (Chatsworth, Ca)
Grubbs Nissan/Screaming Lizard Customs (Dallas/Fort Worth, Tx)
Forged Performance (Atlanta, Ga)

More updates will follow with pictures of the newly custom designed parts along with the production manifolds. Please stay tuned as the limbo stage will be ending soon. If anyone has any questions at all or would like to place an order please do not hesitate to call me directly.

Thank you all for your time.

Tony

As far as I know we are still doing the install for Cy and Tyler.

I have briefly dealt with the guys from Baker Tuning in the past. All good experiences. It would be a consideration if they reached out to us.

Thanks, Tony
