  • Car currently runs stock Transmission, Engine Internals, Diff and Axels (For Now)
  • Please note that I am NOT sponsored by Fast Intentions or SpecialityZ nor have I received any discounted pricing for a review
  • This is my second car ‘build’. My first was a VW Corrado that made the Dec 2009 cover of EuroTuner Magazine (now SuperStreet)

Review of my Fast Intentions experience:
Over the summer I made the decision to go TT on the Z to pursue my road racing passion at P.I.R. this spring. After looking at the various TT options out there, I went with the Fast Intentions kit. I had previously purchased my exhaust from them and was initially impressed with their customer service (Kevin Verdina and Tony Meyerson) and then totally blown away by the top-notch quality of their product. So, the decision was easy and off the car went to Fast Intentions.

Throughout the build/install process, both Kevin and Tony emailed or phoned me with weekly status updates on the car. They even went as far as providing little teaser pics on their progress just to keep me excited. This was a big ticket purchase for me and the Fast Intentions Team went to great lengths making me feel like a valued customer. Overall, a very positive 5star consumer experience for me. Once I got the notice that the car was done, I flew to Cali to pick it up in person and then decided to drive the car the 1,100 miles back home to Portland Oregon.

Since the drive home I have had two additional months of seat time for a total of 2,000 miles behind the wheel, on the TT kit and with the suspension upgrades.
  • Thus far I have seen outside temps ranging from 70°F in California to 27°F through the Mt. Shasta area. The oil temp holds rock steady at 180°F even under spirited prolonged driving
  • Stock 370Z Nismo MGP’s are advertised @ 26/mpg highway. Running ~70% ethanol on average with slightly more than spirited driving the car is averaging 19.6/mpg’s highway
  • I took the car in for scheduled maintenance at Wilsonville Nissan. (first time that they had seen the car since adding the kit) When I picked up the car, the Service Manager and several of the Service Techs pointed out that “this was the highest quality install they had ever seen. From the fit and finish to the quality of the parts used we are very impressed”. This gave me great confidence as I was worried they’d give me some kind of warranty grief. Phew!
  • Since having the car back in Portland I have had no CEL’s, noises or mechanical issue with the car. It literally performs as advertised…..Flawlessly.
  • On Tune 1 (wastegate pressure only) the car makes ~6lbs of boost and puts down roughly ~475rwhp. This tune is what I use for my daily commute and is what the Z should have came with from the factory. Perfectly streetable power and it really wakes the car up.
  • On Tune 3 (or as I call it the about to hurt some feelings tune) the car makes ~13lbs of boost and puts down +675rwhp. This tune is downright demonic and requires every ounce of driver skill that one possesses. The stock Potenza’s have no chance from a dig but fair pretty well at rolling speeds and under hard acceleration. Once these tires give up the plan is to upgrade to either Toyo R888r’s or Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2’s.

Spend that Christmas money you got or that upcoming hard-earned tax refund on a Fast Intentions Twin Turbo kit or any of their other products that may be in your budget range. Put your trust in Fast Intentions and you won’t be disappointed.

Great review of your setup!

I put my deposit down on the FI Stage 2 kit a few weeks ago and I am looking forward to getting it in 9-10 weeks... Are you still happy with the performance?

Thanks, Paul

Paul,

Thanks again for your business and I know you're eager to install your kit once it arrives.

JWes79 is very happy with the performance of his car. In fact, his car is still the highest horsepower car that we've done with the stock motor.

The 2015 and above Nismo models especially have produced very favorable dyno results. His car laid down 704 whp / 608 tq / E85 / 16 PSI.

Well, if I was to do it again I would put a larger exhaust housing on it instead of the .82 AR. By looking at my dyno sheets, I was falling off a bit up top. If Xonarotor offered a .86 or a .88 I would go that route.
