It just seems strange that the complete kit would no longer include any piping to connect the turbine outlet to the customer's stock cats or test pipes.
Clearing up the confusion... The old flyer and old TT kit price "was advertised" with (ETE) Exhaust Transition Elbows. The elbows would start at the V Band flange (back of the turbo) and end in the starting location of the catalytic converters. This said, the elbows are still in development to this day. We are working to have the elbows (included) in the kit and available sometime early next year.

Rest assured, the early buyers in the sale were well compensated for the elbows not being available. Most paid next to nothing for the down pipes and others were compensated in other areas of their build! The customers who jumped on later in the sale were made aware of the elbows not being available prior to locking in the purchase.

I think this should cover it.

Thanks.

I don't think you will have a problem with the wife working over time as it's a toss up of who liked driving my car more! I will say it again, this kit is worth every dime I have and will spend on it.....

but I also drive with high boost always on (17.5-22... well 22 only with race gas and e85...). I never turn it down, so if I went to an economy boost I think I could squeeze another 20miles out of it maybe....

Hey man, at least you have a gorgeous Z. I would hold off for a bit cause too, you took a bit of a hit on the last one... It's like a bad breakup... it takes a little while to recuperate and get back into the drivers seat (of a FI car )

I can hit about 20mpg if i really lay off of it with nothing but highway.

However, On my daily commute, I do about 80 miles round trip(San Jose to Oakland), with a healthy dose of traffic and me flooring it whenever I get the chance.

I always get gas at work, since it has great numbers(e81+ consistantly? hell yes!), I go 2 full days and fill up every third, almost 12gallons on the dot, sometimes 11, othertimes 13.

80+80+40=200 miles/12.5gallons will come out to 16mpg.

This is about 70% freeway, with about 10 miles of traffic a day. It really is not bad. I dare not try to go past half tank, for fear of starvation(shitty fuel tank) can be forced by the acceleration of the car itself at around 1/4 tank. This is obviously exaggerated by the increased fuel flow of e85 tasking the pump.

Full freeway, 20mpg is not that hard to hit honestly. But like anyone will tell you, your mileage will vary based on where you drive, how you drive and even when you drive. But it at least gives a bit of an idea.

I wouldn't drive past 15 gallons*20mpg all freeway, you are looking at 300 miles before you seriously need to consider fueling IMHO. Otherwise, I would say 200miles is a very safe limit and a good measuring stick to use when planning your trip. I would say a 5gal can adds an extra 60(who fills them up 100%?!?!?).

Hope this helps guys! Happy Labor day!

Thanks man that's very helpful! I might need to carry 15 gal with me in my car just in case!

To the Gentlemen of F.I., beautiful product! I just spent the better part of a week going from page one and love what I see. You have spent a year in development and a year with functional product. Making improvements along the way and taking care of various other things, very busy I can tell.

This question had been asked a couple times early on and has not been addressed. Any progress with the CARB approval process? Are you even seeking it?

I saw terribleone got pulled into the ref station but didn't elaborate on what happened.

lj909,

Thank you for your support. Great question! From day #1 we designed the kit to comply with CARB standards. We are confident that with stock catalytic converters it will! There are a few key components that we are working on in order to make this happen. We hope to have them ready early next year. One major component is the (ETE) Exhaust Transition Elbow. Another key component is a little more top secret! Only reason is to not give away all of our ideas to "the competition" but when it is ready, we will move forward with our plans. That said, CARB is no guarantee. It is public knowledge that getting a TT kit approved by them will be no easy feat. Damn near impossible up to this point. A Supercharger kit would of been a much easier road to travel down. Nevertheless, we will still try.

Thank you
-Tony

Wow a response on Sunday! All us Cali guys highly appreciate your efforts to get that "sticker" otherwise we're left with the Stillen kit and although I like superchargers, I don't think that setup would meet my expectations.

I'm putting away for a forced induction setup and hopefully you guys can achieve CARB approval because your kit is what I want. I like the B.P. kit too but that could never pass smog.

Cost is not much of an issue. But the MOST important question here is : I would like to purchase the kit this year. Now, like you stated, if there are no elbows available yet, meaning that I cannot use the stock cats or conventional high flow cats at this time ? Then what go in between your turbine outlets and the beginning of the exhaust pipes ? Please clarify . Thank you
