hurry up with the drag radial vids!

Congrats FI TT owners. Really curious how this does on the track, I know DJTodd tracks alot and has an advanced boost control setup. Seems like it would be quite a handfull with that much torque on tap. Can't wait for the reports.

love reading this thread

awesome job:tup::tup:

Charles have you tried a SPL mid link setup (with SPL rear camber links), eliminating the eccentric toe bolt? You can get 0 camber even dropped a good bit and still keep toe in check.

Congrats to all the new FI TT owners. At a relatively low wtq value (gear dependent) the car is rwd traction limited. Getting to near 0 camber or sticky rubber becomes a necessity. Gears 1 and 2 remain useless for me with RE-11s and -1 camber. I also ramp up boost to prevent the wtq spike at 4k rpms. Will try 0 camber soon... And then go back to R888s if that doesn't work.

EDIT: just confirmed - SPL has the 370z versions...

This is the route I will be going soon. Hoping I can squeeze 325/30/19s at 0 camber. Might run a diff brace too.

djtodd 03-20-2014 10:26 PM

If I weren't running true type rears, that's just about the only ones I would consider.

But, Charles is mainly referring to eliminating the additional camber (and toe!) created when the rear is compressed. Adjustable arms won't give you the ability to dial that out, just somewhat correct for it with more positive camber when unloaded. I think the route he is going is more along the lines of moving pickup points or redesigning the arms to remove any compression induced camber.

We really should create a separate thread for this and stop hijacking tony's thread though :)

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

^ well actually this topic is probably very pertinent to this select crowd and few others ;) [my last post on the topic though Tony, no worries!]

I worry about limiting camber in situations where the trajectory is curved, which if I understand correctly is what phunk's proposed modification will do (as it is designed for maximum tire contact patch in straight line acceleration under load). I have had my car aligned multiple times, finding the limits of each part added and researched this a bit before buying all SPL suspension parts. There are some non-trivial patents filed by super car manufacturers e.g. METHOD TO CONTROL TOE ANGLE AND CAMBER ANGLE IN ACTIVE REAR SUSPENSIONS OF CARS - Patent application that appear to indicate that this is not a simple problem with an easy solution, requiring linear actuators and dynamic electronic adjustment. Of course always open to new ideas (and phunk has proven himself an innovative indidivdual)!

MEH....FML I missed my alignment appointment, today, was my youngest son's 1st birthday, so had to cancel...lol

Anyhow, fooling around near a friend's house for a bit and trying out a different setup on the GoPro...much better, but I did keep speed down(residential area) below 45ish. Anyhow, a "kinda" hard 3000rpm launch(which would instantly throw the car into 420+ ft lb easily) pretty much slid through 1 to 3, but the tires are still fresh, camber is still **** and tire pressure still high from a 90 mile commute the past 5 days(gotta save SOME gas).

Anyhow, at least you can hear the car and not the wind, just something to chew on I guess. But you kind of get the idea of how violent this kit is. Most of the driving is tip-in and part throttle, the damn thing spools like no other and this is with the "street" sensitivity and timing maps...

This car...is totally daily drivable. My commute has tons of traffic, hills, turns, stop and go's. It has not flinched, not an inch. Everything is this kit works together and my supporting parts are seamlessly working out to be a factory-fit ride....with asinine amounts of power.

I like what im seeing! :D

faceglide 03-21-2014 02:35 AM

Oh and this one from yesterday as well...part of my commute home. Tried the "windsock foam in backplate" method, was terrible. Muffles sound and still got wind noise. Yes, my exhaust is quite quiet as well.

Looks like a mic is the way to go....gotta buy a case, mic adapter and mic though...:owned:

Anyways, just popping BOVs like collars in this one, nothing crazy. There is an on-ramp at the end, but the radar detector went off(there was a highway patrol about half a mile down flicking instant-ons, so another win for valentine v1), so I pulled off of it, car hooked a lot better than my re-11s here.

Slowly getting better at using this magic little camera! Awesome if you have kids as well!

Problem found. That used to be a cool event before every retard on earth started showing up to race on the freeway and do burnouts in parking lots. Now you couldn't describe the event without using the word "cluster". I'm shocked there wasn't a body count this year- it was wet and rainy and it was the night most people were out celebrating St. Patrick's day. So freeway racing and drunk drivers? What could possibly go wrong?
