GTM built motor on the way

After having engine damage from a previous bad install Sam at GTM is gonna redo all the install n redo the motor. It's kind of a bummer that everything I previously had in the car is coming out when I didn't even get to use it lol but the end result is eventually what the car would have turned into eventually at some point in time.
The changes:
Stage 1 GTM long block
Replaced JWT clutch n flywheel with os giken twin disk n HD CSC
Replacing aem gauges with defi gauges in stock location
Replacing aem boost controller with HKS evc 6 boost controller
Upgrading to 70mm competition radiator n HO spal fans to keep up with the heat in az
Installing racelogic traction control system
The wife said it was ok
All this will go nice with the properly tuned stage 2 turbo kit :tiphat:

elperuano 12-24-2012 06:42 PM

Wow, sorry to hear about ur troubles. Any time frame when this will be done?

tturbo370z 12-24-2012 07:02 PM

Ya thanks for the condolences. It been a dark nightmare ride but the light is fast approaching with the help from Sam at GTM. We are shooting for 30days for motor work n rebuild. The clutch n HD CSC are ready in and when I was there checking on the car it felt awesome. I will keep posted as progress comes thru. Hoping Sam will send some sort of car porn my way to help get me by and to share with you guys.

I cannot go into specifics as there is a a lawsuit pending. Picture a chimpanzee doing a turbo Install n that's about what you have. Couple that with a terrible tune and there u have it. Thank God there are competent shops like GTM to fix other people's mistakes and take the car to the next level.

blackonorange 12-24-2012 08:09 PM

That sounds like a nightmare

Planet of the Apes has me thinking that there are some smart Chimps out in this world haha. I guess mine and your car can be garage buddies for a month.

Do tell, any more info on this?

Edit: NM I see they have that stuff on their website now. Holy overpriced batman. I thought the CSF stuff was bad... I swear our platform is the only one I've seen short of exotics that gets raped on simple stuff like radiators. Sometimes I think I should have got a mustywang. hahaha! jk.

SPOHN 12-25-2012 04:11 PM

What chimpanzee took there car to the other chimpanzee for this to happen?

Unfortunately I have to agree with this, absolutely every single story ive read about them keeping with the "time frame" has gone horribly wrong. Wish u the best of luck OP

Challenge accepted :icon18: Of course I need to make sure Sam also accepts that challenge

MMC Racing 12-25-2012 05:56 PM

I had a shop meet their time estimate once - for an oil change... :)

G37sHKS 12-25-2012 06:04 PM

I totally agree with the guys here.
I ordered GTM stage 4 transmission 3 month ago when they said it will be done in 3 weeks to 4 weeks max.. And here we are.. still waiting for it for 3 month and only god knows when they will ship it..:shakes head:

blackonorange 12-25-2012 07:45 PM

Are you serious? That's terrible

I guess lesson learn. IMO there is only a handful of shops I'd trust stateside. If your going boosted or build motor and can't tdo the work yourself, pay to ship your car to them.

Can't wait to for your results.

But that's the price you have to pay . C'mon , anyone should know that builds take way longer than that . Pull your head out of your *** op . Just wanted to get a head start on the haters when op post a year later trashing GTM that its still in the shop ..

Lol!! This is exactly how I hear all the stories end up.

blackonorange 12-25-2012 08:51 PM

Than why say it'll only take 30 days? It's a lie obviously

elperuano 12-25-2012 08:52 PM

That seems to be the standard practice so I hear from there.

blackonorange 12-25-2012 08:54 PM

I hate when they lie , just be honest.

elperuano 12-25-2012 09:22 PM

Simple concept, unfortunately $$ signs make people do weird things lol.

Yeah I'm new to modding vehicles and now I know. The hard way sadly. Truth is I would have rather been ripped off then ripped off and my car destroyed. It's been over 4mos without my car, which is my daily driver. Yeah...103hp yaris im renting just isn't cutting it :p

It better be a monster! Wife has been on board so far. I'm sure it's cuz It's been a miserable process. I can't get her to let me do return fuel system thou. Hmmmm maybe next time haha

I can only go with what I was told. My car has already been there for 3 mos and I havnt bitched a bit. It is what it is. Sam said 30days and if it isn't then I won't know until that time comes. Someone asked how long it would take and I told them what I was told. Not sure why I have to pull me head out of my @$$.

The reason you will have to pull your head out of your *** is because when it starts to take forever you will make a thread and put them on blast . Then comes all the nut hugging I know everything about build fan boys . They will blast you and say its your fault for not knowing a build when promised a month or 2 takes over a year .. You will be the fool . It's all your fault . You are a idiot ! Thread will be locked or deleted . Probably deleted ...

I am not calling you any names . But , everyone else will ..

SS_Firehawk 12-26-2012 12:33 AM

If the Z is yours primary vehicle, its probably not a good idea to do a build thats longer than a couple weeks. Time is and estimate. A setback on one vehicle can have an effect on the completion of another. Id rather have delays and blown completion times than a bad install. Sucks if both happen at the same time ha.

So your car has already been there for 3 months ??

Yeah so far lol. Sam is doing the best he can. In the end I just want my car done right so time is really not a factor. I'm not delusional that I'm gonna magically get my car back in a month but i wouldn't be upset if I did. As long as there is progress being made on the car that's what's important.

blackonorange 12-26-2012 01:23 AM

Car was messed up at poo shop. Sent car to GTM. Uninstalled everything and reinstalled it. Now rebuilding Motor cuz not all the issues from poo shop where resolved by doing the install correctly. It's been a long road so far and it hasn't gotten a whole lot shorter. Hope that clears it up some. In the end the car should be awesome and that's what keeps me positive

Z eliminator 12-26-2012 03:46 AM

Ive got the stage 4 transmion, and yes it took a long time, but its worth the weight.
you will love it. Its a very custom part that takes a long time to build.

Did I miss who poo shop is?

Edit: quick post search answered who installed and tuned.

:icon18: Had a run in with them back with my 350Z...amazing they still exist.

tturbo370z 02-15-2013 06:57 PM

Well I havnt gotten the car back yet LOL. It's getting some more upgrades :excited:
Upgrading to gt30 turbos from gt28 in stage 2
Adding gtm fuel return system
Adding apexi din 3 gauge so this way the defi gauges will have boost, fuel pressure, egt and apexi will show oil pressure, oil temp and water temp
Adding GTR intake manifold

Now if I can keep myself from making anymore upgrades before my wife makes a permanent home for me in the garage I will be good haha
