Maf ?
Okay,
I have been shopping for MAF Sensors I found 3 different ones on the GTM site, I am sure there are probably others out there but I haven't found them.... The 3 they had listed are UpRev, GTM, PMASS. Below is some info on each. I am trying to get the most reliable and programmable by UpRev. I have done some searches on the forum but only found info on UpRev MAFs. Please someone take me to school !!!! 1st - PMASS PREFORAMCE MAF SENSOR DESCRIPTION: Probably the most versatile performance mass air sensor on the market. Complete with the HPX software tool the possibilities are pretty much limitless. Capable of supporting over 1000WHP, Will never peg, Can be used in ln most any intake system configuration, Great for blow thru or draw thru systems, Never needs re-calibrating, No more need for a conventional mass air sensor assembly, this sensor simply drops into your existing intake plumbing, Small footprint allows for exceptional airflow, Every sensor is repeatable within O.E.M. spec, Software transfer-function generating tool included for using the HPX in different tubing, Limited Lifetime Warranty. *Doesn't say if its program compatible with UpRev, I have seen a lot of these on Fords. 2nd - GTM PERFORMANCE MAF GTM Performance Engineering is proud to present our custom calibrated high performance MAF sensor. After tuning hundreds of cars ranging from mild naturally aspirated bolt on Nissans and Infinitis to all out 1000hp Twin Turbo cars, we felt there was a need for a sensor that read more airflow without losing the resolution needed to have a stable idle, good cruise and low load engine operation. By adjusting the design of the MAF sensor, we are able to offer extended range for up to 190% more airflow than the stock sensors. This development translates into having a 1000hp car that starts up every time and can be driven normally on the street. 3rd - UPREV MAF GT UpRev MAF GT sensor will read almost 180% the air flow range of the factory sensor while allowing stable idle air flow measurements. If you have a Nissan or Infiniti vehicle that you're adding Forced Induction to, you will need this upgraded MAF Sensor. We've worked for many years to offer a MAF sensor that we can put our name on. Finally we have the right sensor. Years of being the only manufacturer to support Forced Induction properly on the Nissan vehicles using the factory ECU has allowed us to understand what our customers need and this is the product we've brought to market. UpRev MAF GT sensor works on a wide range of current and older model Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. The diameter of the MAF tube changes, so and exact HP or Flow range cannot be stated for each vehicle. Nissan has generally matched the Factory MAF tube to reach the 4.9v range at 130% over the factory HP. If you're adding Forced Induction you will be out flowing the factory MAF sensor. We've designed this MAF sensor to meet those needs. I got all this info off the GTM site. I have no experience with any of these so input is requested. My build is a Stillen SC, very common kit how ever I have swapped out the impeller with a 928. The out put on the SC is small so the air will be traveling as fast or faster than a turbo set up. So I am looking for a set of reliable MAFs. 1st Question: Are the PMASS & GTM MAFs programmable with UpRev Tune? 2nd Question: Which is more reliable? 3rd Question: What are you using? Thanks

PMASS PREFORAMCE MAF SENSOR I am reading good things about on the Ford forums. Seems to be a versatile sensor. From what I read they are very reliable. I just haven't seen if they can be programmed with UpRev Software.
UPREV MAFs I have seen a few threads on 30z forum saying they fail more than the others and they are to expensive. I haven't seen anything on the GTM MAFs but hey everything they make has good reviews..

The HPX PMAS was the only option until about a year ago when Uprev made their own. The HPX MAF's are very reliable, but have lower resolution than the MAF GT, and there is some variance in the voltage readings between sensors making it more difficult to get a consistent tune. The MAF GT allows for a lot more fine-tuning.
I'm 99% sure that the GTM MAF is nothing more than a rebranded Uprev MAF GT. Just like their "GTM spec ecu reflash".... its just an Uprev reflash that GTM calls their own, and they sell enough of it that Uprev lets them. In the rom editor there is an option to select either stock MAF, Uprev MAF GT, or HPX PMAS, and it is all precalibrated. Nothing for the GTM MAF, but then again if its really an uprev maf without the label on it then you would just select MAF GT. There was a bad batch of MAF GT's last summer that were failing, but to the best of my knowledge that was straightened out and I haven't heard of any failing recently. Anyways if they do fail uprev will warranty them pretty easily. |

Hmhm I'm interested to know as well, I have GTM stg2 TT with stock MAFs at around 400awhp, not sure if upgrading stock MAF is required when not pushing out mad power?

Ultimately, our MAF sensors are much easier to tune with than the HPX sensors. While the HPX PMAS is a great sensor, you really have to know what you are doing to make good use of it, otherwise you can easily end up chasing your tail trying to get it dialed in. In regards to our GTM Spec ECU Flash, it is our own calibration file that we developed. Yes, it uses UpRev tuning software, but it is our tune and our intellectual property. So we have every right to call our tune our GTM Spec ECU Flash. |

OEM MAFs are good for more than 600... We didnt change them on the 4.5L until we were going for over 1000hp...

My Maf's were just about done at around 550whp I guess you can call me the unlucky one.
I remember back when i had my 350z around 350whp with uprev the stock maf had to be changed, there were some people however that got 400 whp plus.

At around 600whp seem to be the point where there max is what i here the most. When I was talking to Sam about my goals he told me I would need the Maf's and he was right.

Daily driver with 60,000 on it, if a set of MAF's keeps me out of the red and reliable with the Stillen design I'm all for it. Rather do it all at once then going back and forth to the tuner. $700.00 upfront will save me some $$$ in the long run. Think I'll use the UpRev MAF's. Most you guy's are running mad HP, I just need to get this kit set up to run another 60,000 miles on it. Man, thanks for all the input, I am getting a lot out of the thread. Trying to stay on the Mr. Squeeze build path. A few there's built there Stillens like him and have had no issues. I got the kit on the cheap was the main reason I got it. I know it will meet my needs, I'm not so Fast and Furious anymore. Will order the MAF's next week, over X-Mas I plan to get the kit installed and tuned. I have to look at it everyday sitting on the shelf. Driving me crazy. Real test will be Driving to Z-Days in May. Hopefully have the bugs worked out before then.
