Just wondering if there are any break-in rules for new turbos?

The turbos don't really need break-in. Take it easy on it at first though. It's a whole different car. It can get away from you if you're not paying attention.

Anything with bearings will appreciate being babied for the first couple weeks of use. Do yourself a favor and don't run around boosting constantly and give the turbos plenty of time to spin down and cool down before you kill the engine.

This. I know the turbos are oil and water cooled, but idling for a minute or so before you shut it down will make things last a lot longer. Just finish listening to the song on the radio before you turn it off.

Yeah, 'cause once the engine stops, the flow of oil stops (I'm pretty sure water cooled turbos are a thing of the past).

If you roar into your driveway and kill the engine, the turbos could be spinning at 20000+ RPM when that flow of oil stops, meaning your bearings can go basically dry before the turbine stops spinning, and the little bit of oil left in them will cook off, causing damage over the long term.

Edit: Hell, for that matter, I like to give the engine itself time to cool down before I kill it in my N/A setup. The heads in our cars generate a lot of heat when driving and giving it some time to cool down at idle (the oil helps take heat from the valve train) doesn't hurt at all.

Good stuff. I will take it a bit easy for first couple of weeks(i hope)
The letting it idle and get oil to turbo i see as a must. Maybe turbo
timer in the future-thanks

The GTM turbos are both oil and water cooled. Since the turbos are mounted so low, the coolant will continue to cycle for a little while after shutdown. I still let it idle for a minute or two so the oil doesn't have a chance to coke in the lines and bearings (although modern synthetic oil doesn't do that like it used to).

No real reason for a turbo timer. It doesn't cost anything to sit in the car for a minute after you get where you're going.
